Just got back home. It was a great show, though Keith seemed to have some trouble sometimes. Tonight there was Mick Jagger and the rest. He really carried the show. Favourites tonight was Out Of Control, JJF, MR and YGTS. Though Keef had some trouble like getting the sound guy in line quite a few times, and his general misplaying that occurs here and there, I was happy to see a near flawless version of Can't Be Seen. He's really been practising his solo parts on that one. Jagger was an ungodly force tonight, constantly out on the catwalk and singing really good. I was at the middle by the catwalk, Ronnie's side and could see everything except Darryl Jones. He did an awesome bass solo in Miss You btw. He got a big cheer for that. Ronnie was doing some nice messy solos and seemed way into it all, WH especially. Sometimes a monitor kicked in next to me and then it all got REALLY loud. It was not the sound guy's best night. It sounded like Charlie played too fast when that monitor started, and the others didn't follow suit. All in all, a good solid gig. Not the best I've seen them do, 'cause there was quite a few rough edges, but I liked it.
Liked it
Yes I did.

Thanks for all the great reports and pics. Safe travels home for all the gig attendees. Sounds like a great atmosphere for the last gig of the tour.

We arrived the venue one hour before showtime, and just strolled right into the pit! Not in my faintest dreams would I think that would ever happen.

80.000 people, mostly young people in their 20s were in the pit. They were screaming for more long after the band left the stage. It was surreal.

A super gig!

This give me shivers, wow!

Glad it grooved you Kent!
My understanding is that those monitors along the catwalk kick in
when one of the guitarists is going walkabout, since they don't have in-ear monitors.
The effect is a bit weird for the audience situated right next to them, though!

Yes, those monitors on the catwalk are really annoying.
And it seemed they switch them on at random. Even when no stones member is around.

Was a big pit though. I was standing right in the back at the ramp.

End of the best european tour ever

I've only been to 3 gigs on this tour and three past European Tours, but I would entirely agree with that comment.

A fantastic European Tour even if you only went to one live gig and seen the others in videos ,pics and reviews. >grinning smiley<

Just two remarks...

Twice the steam was missing at Keith Guitar. At the Start of SMU and Satisfaction no strong sound on it. He took it with a smile, a second later it went of...rocket like, as usual.

At "You got the Silver, he supposed to sing:

Tell me, honey, what will I do
When I'm hungry and thirsty too
Feeling foolish (and that's for sure)
Just waiting here at your kitchen door?

But he missed the text and sneaked out like this:

Tell me, honey, what will I do
When I'm hungry and thirsty too
...and now you wait for me... (with a thinking face, hilarious)
Just waiting here at your kitchen door?

Maybe, you will hear it at some videos, later.

greets

Doc

Well, perhaps it is that he's no longer "feeling foolish (and that's for sure)"--after all, at tour's end, unlike in 1969, he does indeed have a long, multi-generational family list of people who wait for him.

Best european tour they've done this year at least! grinning smiley

After some worrying half-baked tired shows last year in the US we got the real deal : no stupid guests, no lame performances, just a tight unit playing well and enjoying being onstage.
We could have had more MT but obviously this is not what was planned for Euro audiences.

The monitors also kick in when Mick and Lisa are on the catwalk. The sound can be disturbing for the crowd there.

From the pit the sound was excellent yesterday. Way better than in Oslo. Then again, seemingly I was round where Kent was yesterday on the Oslo gig smiling smiley

I thought Keith was on fire. Better solos and more consistent playing overall. His set was a highlight, imo. He played more on YGTS.

Not at random, no, but they seem very "sensitive" as they kick in as soon as one of the guitar players ventures at the foot of the catwalk, in Paris it happened when Taylor walked there too. They definitely did not kick in when Mick was on the catwalk, but they may have when Lisa was there (HP1 for sure), which is odd considering she certainly has an IEM device.

They're annoying to the nearby audience because they are slightly delayed (and overlap with the normal sound system) so that the guitar players can hear what the rest of the band are actually playing, although with the Stone's legendary "behind the beat" timing they could certainly handle a 30/300=100ms delay.

In fact they probably don't work well enough (or they get confusing like they do for the nearby audience) because Keith is always in a hurry to get back to his real monitors for the end of Miss You.
