I only did Milwaukee in the old Bradley Center, first section of the upper level, fairly close to the stage, Keith's side.

I swear I felt Charlie's drumming all night in my sternum. Never felt it before or since. Very cool!

And You Got the Silver gets me every time!

And Memory Motel!

I loved the stripped down vibe of the show.

I like the shows I went to: DC and NYC #3. At the MSG they played "Might As Well Get Juiced", "Little Queenie" and "just want to make love to you". That was a nice surprise. Arena tours are great especially at places like MSG. The Stones in 1999 were in their mid 50's still physically strong and asskicking and looking super cool. The movie intro was very dramatic, they looked like a gang walking up to the stage, then BAM! with satisfaction full blast. I love it.

I didn’t make any 99 shows. Did get Don’t Bust the Crust think that was name of boot at Shepherds Bush. My next time to see boys would be 2003. Thanks for your thoughts.

Of the 4 i saw...
1) Pittsburgh. Especially the B stage. Nothing else comes close.
2) Cleveland.
3) Columbus.
4) Chicago 2.

I thought the energy level on the Steel Wheels and Voodoo Lounge tours was through the roof. If I had to split hairs, I thought it was a little less on the Bridges tour. At the time, I wondered if they were finally "showing their age" a little bit. Almost all of those shows were in stadiums. All of a sudden, they play smaller shows for the No Security Tour in hockey arenas. I remember thinking, wow... they seem so much younger again, not having to play to such a big venue. The set list, the confidence, the energy on the No Security Tour... I thought they killed it. I loved that tour.

That's an interesting perspective about their energy levels of the SW and VL tours compared to BTB. Although I didn't get to see any BTB or NS shows, the live videos and live albums are available to hear the differences compared to SW and VL (not sure I'd count the Paris TOTALLY STRIPPED as something to use but the SPARKS WILL FLY Giants Stadium boot certainly works) and, having seen one SW show and two VL shows I thought the VL performances were lacking overall. Better than TOTA performances but way sloppier than the SW shows.

The SW/UJ tours might be an anomaly in their tour history.

It seems that with the BTB tours they were sharp yet relaxed, maybe a kind of comfort level finally agreed with regarding stadiums. Sound technology had improved. Maybe the album helped them focus since it was way better than VL (and aside from the dumb VL song, Saint Of Me proved to be a huge crowd song).

Yet listening to SAN JOSE, SHEPERD'S and whatever videos from the 1999 NS tour they certainly played more aggressive compared to the previous 2 years. They were rolling! Something happened. With VL it was about how old there were.

Again.

Maybe with BTB being such an eclectic album and with a much better stage the 1997-99 Stones were over ageism and perhaps so were the critics. The complaints about their age accomplishes the same thing as hoping the winds won't get stronger as a hurricane approaches.

The beauty of NO SECURITY is it's none of the usual songs. I wish there was something similar again from the 1997-98 tours and include 1999. And a Memory Motel of just The Rolling Stones.

I was at the Toronto show also. Dull crowd. Good show.

I'm eagerly waiting for the conversation to go into the Euro BTB/NS 1999 tour. Where I saw my favorite gig Stuttgart.

The last GREAT tour. Age slowly caught up with them after that. Get Off My Cloud got turned into a waltz. People now go for nostalgia.

Here we go: I was in Stuttgart in the heat and in Cologne in the driving rain. It was probably my most intense time as a Stones fan. The setlists were great, as the whole atmosphere. Jagger was in fantastic shape. The intro was the best ever during their tours in my opinion. My admiration for the Stones was never stronger. I had to move on and I do not regret it, but the memories of 1999 remain.

No Security was a great tour, no doubt. I do wonder: does anyone know how the concept came to be? What lead them to embark on an arena tour, with a definite delve into lesser-performed numbers?

Great tour, but it was the first tour in any arenas since 1981. They tried out MSG and charged astronomical prices. My Ticketmaster price to see the stones in Foxboro stadium on the floor near the b stage was like $75 in 1997 for Bridges. 18 months later tickets in Boston indoors were $350 from Ticketmaster. MSG was the try out and they found they could do a tour in arenas and get big bucks. The prices just kept going up even for stadium shows

They wanted to perform in smaller venues with an intimate setting, focusing on the music and exploring different parts of their catalogue, in a stripped-down approach with fewer special effects, while promoting their live album ‘No Security’ - [en.Wikipedia.org] , [iorr.org] - (reviews).

I remember the rock radio stations playing commercials for the tour that advertised the Stones were going to play songs they rarely played; it sounded like it was a tour for "us"; smaller venues and rarely played songs.Good concept for fanatics(lol)!

A bit of a shadow - Mick's attitude surrounding Some Girls was his mess with Jerry Hall. Can't find anything but I recall that being mentioned years ago somewhere.

And the line that upsets people was inverted. Great attitude of that song in 1999.
