First time I ever saw them indoors (Anaheim)...the return to arenas was the big selling point, and well worth it! Up until then, a lot of people had only seen them in stadiums the previous decade ( Steel Wheels-Voodoo Lounge-BTB ).

thumbs up

This was a huge deal at the time. Since this tour I never wanted to see them in a stadium setting again. We don't need a spectacle -- just a good show.

First time the ticket prices really skyrocketed, as I recall...

(But hey: well worth every penny! smoking smiley )

Thru and Thru
Even though I have been a Stones fan since 1964 for a number of reasons the NS Tour was the first time I actually saw them live. I went to three shows in 1999, Anaheim, Kansas City and Las Vegas and regardless of which show was the best, etc. the Stones impressed me so much that I have seen them 57 times since then. Health and logistics reasons prevented me from seeing any shows this year but I sure hope to make up for that next year, the good Lord willing!!! grinning smiley

My daughter went to the Anaheim show with me (my first live Stones show ever!) and I was so excited to finally see them that I started hyperventilating majorly before the Stones even hit the stage, I wasn't sure if I was going to live long enough to fulfill my dream!!! eye popping smiley My daughter still makes fun of me about that to this day.

Of those three shows the Kansas City one was on my birthday which made it extra special of course, the Anaheim show was my first but I missed most of it trying to breathe normally so I have to say that the Vegas show was the best by default. We had great seats right by the stage for that one and I'll never forget the outstanding MR on the b-stage that night but SFTD and how the crowd reacted and was forever singing the Wooo Wooo's as we were walking out of the arena and back to the casino and even still in there afterwards stole the show for me and I was hooked forever.

This story is very similar to mine! My first time seeing the stones on my 23rd Birthday on the other side of the world in a rock n roll capital (Memphis). Right down to my level of excitement at the beginning to everyone chanting 'Woo woo' into the hot windy night as we all headed for Beale st.

I was hooked. Saw them at the 2 Wembley shows later that year and have been to all 10 Australian shows since.
With another 6 on the way!

If you mean with best shows quality wise on cd:

you've got soundboards of Philadelphia, Anaheim, Boston and San Jose.
The first two you can't hear Keith at all untill the smaller middle stage.
San Jose is the best one.

Most of the soundboards r flawed, there really isn't an awesome one, some of the audience recording r better

Memphis Pyramid. My first ever Stones show. Wow.

That show was such a party! Love seeing the Stones in Memphis. It was so cool to hear "I Got the Blues" performed that night. Also great to hear "Some Girls" and "When the Whip Comes Down." Great setlist, great atmosphere.

Is there any *good* MATRIX mix of both audience and soundboard recordings from 1999? ... Since most of the soundboard tapes are flawed as Gooo point out above, maybe some could benefit of the experiment of mixing in sync with a nice audience recording.

Yes, the B-stage was monster on that tour. There is nothing left in the post-Wyman era I want from the Stones other than a good No Security DVD.
oh yeah, let's try and petition for that. it shall be cut together
from arena shows like Pittsburgh & Hartford and open-airs (but
not stadiums) like Groningen & Stuttgart. we know they own footage

The whole crowd was on their feet dancing singing and clapping along for the entire show. And of course the Memphis line in HTW got a huge response! It really was an amazing atmosphere.

1999 No Security Tour Bootlegs
Date: September 2, 2014 08:39

I've heard nothing but good things about this 1999 tour, such as it is the best of their tours in recent years. However, I've haven't heard a whole lot of bootlegs from it. So, I'd like a few suggestions for good audio/video bootlegs of the tour, based on great performances and high quality sound.

I enjoy the San Jose 20th of April and especially the version of Some Girls and Saint Of Me. IMHO the 19th does not in any way reach the same heights (except that I prefer Bitch to Live With Me as the 2nd tune) and I was quite surprised that it was the first show in the Bay Area that got the Vault treatment.

I really like the DC show too, slick and the version of Memory Motel is among the best ever.

Only saw both shows in Boston. First night was good, and the second night was pure magic. Might be my favorite show ever. It was a great tour

I was living in NYC for a while and, of course, it was like the only NA tour to not hit NYC, ha. Took the train to Hartford for the second show. The Huskies were playing in the ncaa championship game that night and the crowd seemed kind of distracted but it was a great show. The entire tour had amazing set lists and the band was hitting. I remember the girl I went with saying, "No 'Satisfaction'?" That omission was perfectly fine with me, I was excited about hearing "I Got the Blues," "Route 66" and "Some Girls," ha.

That tour was a surprise to me. Was walking around New Orleans and bought a USA TODAY after lunch and there it was: Stones to do North American arena winter/spring 1999 tour named after the live album.

And, also a surprise, the BRIDGES EU tour would continue in late spring/summer.

Back when not knowing was fun.

Unfortunately didn't see any shows but over the years loved what I've been able to see/listen to in regard to Some Girls, Midnight Rambler, I Got The Blues, Route 66 especially on SAN JOSE which is pretty damn good.

I saw Detroit and both nights in DC. To me they were at the top of their game, their best tour in the "Vegas" era.

IMO the best of late era tours. It came as a surprise, and the setlists were off the chain. You got the feeling that they were doing it for the music, and the fans. kind of reminded me of the crazy '78 tour.
