Having seen four of those top 5 shows (not orbital) I can understand why LC is top. It was a magical slot. I would however put blur in 2008 (never seen a festival crowd like it -including the stones),
McCartney in 2004 and Brian Wilson higher up the list. All about opinions on these sorts of things.

After looking at the list, I can honestly say I've never heard of at least half of those bands. As a Canadian, I'm assuming alot are British and fairly popular over there?

Orbital ! So stupid, how could I forget about Orbital ?
4th place after them is an honour !
Seriousely, nothing against Orbital.I respect and I can understand L. Cohen or Radiohead, the magic they deliver etc etc . I don't wanna say that the Stones MUST be at n°1, but when I read this kind of charts it seems that some journalist absolutely want you to know how cool they are and how much they understand . and some are afraid to be "popular " . but it is not a big deal, it has Always been like that

It was simply magical to see Cohen live on the Pyramid stage. It wouldn't be my top spot at Glastonbury but I really do laugh at people who put a live show down when they weren't even there!

Remember, it's about the performance on that day, not the actual act itself.

The Stones were magical at Glastonbury, and I love them to bits but I have seen at least ten better acts in the 20 years of going to the festival.

Orbital are one of the most important acts to play Glastonbury btw. Their sets are the stuff of legend down here in the South West of England. No surprise they are so high.

how could anyone honestly try to rank those appeareances? the only person to do that could be Michael Eavis. he's the only one who really has seen every worthwile act that ever played Glastonbury. but there's no doubt that it is the greatest officially taped performance of the Stones since 2012

I too saw Cohen that year, totally without expectations before the show.

Honestly, it was one of the best three gigs I've ever attended. And I'm not really a fan!

Agreed!

I must admit I knew very little about his music before seeing him but he absolutely blew me away. It was an absolute honor to be there in that crowd that day.

LC - paint drying to turgid noise.
Telegraph - England in the fifties.
Bloody opinions.

The Bodger and Badger live shows at Glastonbury are legendary. No one has even come close to touching their brilliance. Check them out if you can.

I bet you've never seen Leonard Cohen live. His shows are magical, out of this world. Besides, he is the most gracious and humble (at least he acts like he is!) performer, you can't help but love him!

Lose your dreams and you will lose your mind...

Okay I was not at nor have I ever been to Glastonbury. I do not get Leonard Coen's act and for my personal taste his next good performance will be his first. Don't get him and never will! As for the other acts I don't know most of them and won't judge them.

I did not see Cohen at Glastonbury, but I did see him at The O2.... It was magical! It was an emotional experience!

Why do some people get so competitive, and upset about music? I do not like Orbital, (and yes, I have seen them) but if someone else loves them, great. It's not football where you have to support your team, do or die... It's music! I also saw Wilson at the RFH a few years back, to me he seemed like a confused, bemused old man sitting at, but rarely playing a keyboard, but the review I read the next day proclaimed it genius. Each to their own!
