well, for starters you can keep the two Billy Preston songs, so we're immediately down to 21.

I'd also like to know how long in terms of minutes, the actual show was, compared to the recent one.

I attended the 6/22 show at the Garden and it was close to 3 hours, the thing is that even the Billy Preston songs sounded fresh and The Stones backed him up on those songs and Mick even danced with Billy, back then all the songs played were relatively new, nowdays half their show is playing the same songs, they sound ok,but after 39 years, to me at least they lack any emotion or fire, but l am sure many will disagree...winking smiley

I wonder if "Can't Be Seen" would have less of that '80's sound if it were performed in 1975 ??

Cannot believe what you are doing here...
These men are in their 70ies.
And you set a gig in comparison they played when they were in there beginning 30ies??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
And then even moaning that they play 4 songs less today.
4 songs...
And the crown: Moaning that some songs today were played also in 1976.
From which planet are you???

This just seems like an observation, not criticism, at least from my view.

I reallly, really want to hear 'You Gotta Move' played live again. If not like in '75, at least close to it. It was truly wonderful to hear at that time. I still enjoy listening to the '75 shows.

My God, three hours? No wonder MSG is their home. Enjoy the warhorses since when it's over, it's over, and we will have to listen to "cover bands" after that.

The 75 TOTA was unusual in terms of set length. '76 is Europe, and '73 in Europe were much shorter

Earls Court '76 had only 20 songs, 2 of which were Billy Preston

Wembley '73 had 16 songs

Knebworth was unusual in being longer

'78 in the US was still only 18 songs

The gig timings were shorter than the 2 hours 10 minutes we see this year. This year is in part due to 3 or more extended songs - Rambler, Sympathy and YCAGWYW.

They could fit in nearly 30 4 minute songs in 2 hours 10 minutes - but apart from the learning/remembering complexity, who would want that?

MJ's highly apocryphal quote : "Don't live in the past Rops! Cos :

A - I don't!
B - I'll have BV get you banned from IORR" >grinning smiley<

Please shorten the extreme long outtro's on the songs. That would make room for 4 other songs.

Well dcba, that quote from Mick is kind of Hypocritical, considering that 99% of the stuff they play nowdays are the "oldies"(talk about living in the past),which is fine for those that are on a nostalgia trip, as far as having me banned, hey, we are all on "borrowed time" winking smiley

What planet are you from? Clearly it's one where an annoying number of question marks is permitted

The guy was making an observation and 4 songs is 4 songs. They played 22 in the US last year which is, according to my math, 3 songs more than now.

Since we’re comparing setlists for no apparent reason I thought we would compare these two. I believe the distance between the two cities is about 25 miles.

July 23, 2006 - Köln

1. Jumping Jack Flash
2. It's Only Rock'n Roll
3. Oh No Not You Again
4. Let's Spend The Night Together
5. She's So Cold
6. As Tears Go By
7. Streets Of Love
8. Tumbling Dice
9. Night Time Is The Right Time
--- Introductions
10. Before They Make Me Run (Keith)
11. Slipping Away (Keith)
12. Miss You (to B-stage)
13. Rough Justice
14. Get Off Of My Cloud
15. Honky Tonk Women (to main stage)
16. Sympathy For The Devil
17. Start Me Up
18. Brown Sugar
19. You Can't Always Get What You Want (encore)
20. Satisfaction (encore)

June 19, 2014 Düsseldorf

1. Jumping Jack Flash
2. Let's Spend The Night Together
3. It's Only Rock'n Roll
4. Tumbling Dice
5. Worried About You
6. Doom & Gloom
7. Street Fighting Man (by request)
8. Out Of Control
9. Honky Tonk Women
--- Band introductions
10. You Got The Silver (Keith)
11. Can't Be Seen (Keith)
12. Midnight Rambler (with Mick Taylor)
13. Miss You
14. Gimme Shelter
15. Start Me Up
16. Sympathy For The Devil
17. Brown Sugar
--- Band off stage
18. You Can't Always Get What You Want (with choir)
19. Satisfaction (with Mick Taylor)

I’m actually impressed that it was only 63% for the songs that were performed the last time the band was in the area. I was expecting 75%. Then again, we did lose a song. It is interesting to see how the beginning and endings of the show are so similar.

What does this proof? Nothing. I simply had time to kill.

Of course they did play Düsseldorf in 2007 but don't we all want to forget that leg?
