Since the Vegas era began it's worse than Miss You IMHO. I hate the Chuck Berry intro, the flat vocals by Mick, and the overall delviery. It's a total snoozer.
I have yet to hear a decent version from '89 onward.
At leaste when Mick was on SNL a few years back he tried to sing it the original way.

Absolutely correct. Awful sound, awful delivery, awful tempo. Only good live
version IMHO, is Love You Live recording...that rocks.

Totally agree, it's horrible live and the studio version is fantastic.

Play Star Star instead, has the same intro, and I'm sure most people know it, coming from a number 1 album and it was released as a European single at the time.

This song live in concert 2012-2014 is just awful, very slow tempo and the backing vocals during the chorus sounds awful and is so loud that you can barely hear Mick,
but the live version from St Louis 1997 was very thight and much more rocking than these days, also the Live Licks version is quite good.

Too much backing vocals today...and not only on IORR for sure.

I wish they would sub Let's Spend The Night Together for it. It's terrible for all the reasons mentioned thus far.

It does fall flat these days more often than not, however this version from earlier in the tour (Philly) is pretty good.

This. For a song that was never that big a hit in the 1st place, 40 years ago it is much overexposed and, imho, the most ill deserving warhorse. JJF, BS and the usual suspects have all earned their place. Since 81/82 when it was dropped, it has very seldom not been played, I'd happily replace it with LSTNT, an absolute knockout in Oslo for my money.

This is a song where I feel the live version doesn't live up to the original. I love the sound of the original. The change of key, chuck Berry intro, just do not work for me. The best live version done in years was with when Mick did the song with the Foo Fighters on SNL even though, Mick was off his game slightly from having done it in B for so long.

It's Only Rock and Roll from same entitled album is mediocre. It's the type of song that strikes the mood you're in. Sometimes I think it's great then sometimes not. However, it is the theme of that collection of work and you can best believe songs such as Luxury, Fingerprint File, and even TWFN will always be trumped because of that approach. For unknown reasons, Aint Too Proud to Beg just as IORR has precedence over L, FF, TWFN, etc....

Missed Opportunities

I always thought it had an awkward feel. The tempo changes don't sit well with either my ear or my posterior.
