That is sad. The band was very close to him for a lot of years. I feel bad now for putting down his book. RIP Prince Rupert.

He was good at what he did - RIP.

I get the feeling we owe this man many many thanks for helping keep this great band going while so many other bands fell by the way side. Of course he was paid for his efforts, as were many, but I think Prince Rupert Loewenstein was a great guiding light and an important part of the Stones success.

Keep On Rolling

RIP...a pretty fascinating character in the Stones' cast who was kind enough to shed some light on his role in his book. I read all the Stones related sections in earnest and found the "Place Vendome/Sony/Yeltnikoff" incident particularly revealing.

It's hard to believe he's gone so quickly after writing it. I don't have it handy but doesn't he mention a critical health scare he had at some point?

As pretentious as was his 2013 memoir A Prince Among Stones I still enjoyed it and am sorry to hear of his passing. (Hey, because of his comments regarding a possible coat of arms for Mick's knighthood, I learned a new word: "couchant.")

I like to think that whatever bad feeling existed between Mick and Prince Rupert, due to the RS ending their professional r'ship with him, and his subsequent book, ended before he died. He can certainly be credited with the RS 'financial rescue' in their hour of need, and he sounds like a man of intelligence and integrity.

The above post reminds me of when Brian Epstein told the Beatles he might sell them to Robert Stigwood, and the Beatles told Brian that if he went ahead, "We will record `God Save the Queen' for every single record we make from now on and we'll sing it out of tune. That's a promise. So if this guy buys us, that's what he's buying."

First I heard about them apparently disbanding in 1968. Not that I believe it anyway.
Why did they break ties? Anyone know?

Loewenstein engineered it so that the band paid a measly 4 GBP tax on earnings of 240 GBP. That's pretty disgusting. I guess Mick and Keith figure that paying taxes is for schmucks like you and me. Just let us idiots pay for the airports they jet in and out of, let alone the arenas the boys make their millions in.

Yes he had an intriguing and above all most charming and humorous way of expressing himself at moments like that. He knew how to win people for what he sorted out for them.
In the end I don't think we can say the band left him but reality left him; he was seriously thinking about making a huge deal with an entrepeneur in the musical business.
