It was an excellent run...today's game (unlike yesterday's) could have easily gone either way.

Germany plays better than Argentina, but I think this time Argentina will won the championship. winking smiley

BTW, and just for the record, this is the third time the two teams plays in the WC final match, with one championship each.

These teams though are much different than the '86 and '90 teams because I think there was quite a bit of gamesmanship back then.

These 2 teams are operating on skill, Argentina's defense was awesome although at the same time, Costa Rica kept the Dutch out of the net as well though the Dutch hit the woodwork.

Yes, I think Argentina can likewise limit Germany but it could come down to another shootout, those shootouts are awful, I'd do everything possible to win in Added Extra Time and avoid those shootouts.

Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal claimed he wanted Tim Krul for the penalty shootout against Argentina on Wednesday.

Van Gaal was hailed as a genius after bringing on Krul for regular goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen in Netherlands' penalty shootout victory over Costa Rica in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup but did not repeat the move versus Argentina, having already used his three subs.

Cillessen has never saved a penalty in his professional career and failed to stop one in Sao Paulo, as Argentina won the shootout 4-2, after the game remained scoreless through 120 minutes.

Did not get to see this, that's a bit of a shame. Krul did not figure into the shootout.

At best it will be a good game, but I also think Argentina don't stand a chance.

Good picks QuiQue and Cristiano; very interesting to see people make their picks actually public. I'm in another contest, I picked the game today as a draw in the other but failed in the IORR contest.

In the other contest, everyone's name is there and how they picked and as the scores change, so does the order.

Yeah, Messi's penalty was a quality one. So was Robben's. Two Dutch players produced crap penalties which sealed Holland's destiny. These two players were handpicked by the Dutch coach...

Brazilian fans have a dilemma on Sunday. Support the team that thrashed them 7-1 or.....actually there is no 2nd choice here. sad smiley

I will root for the German team. They are overall the better team of the two. Argentina is basically Messi and not much else. On the other hand, one goal by Messi could be enough.

What a bore of match!

Neither Holland nor Argentina deserved the right to reach the final.

The only team who has played soccer is Germany.

If Spain had conserved its level....would have won each and every team 15-0 in this Cup.

I guess you've forgotten about Germany's game against France?

Anyway, I am afraid what we saw here last night is how football is developing. More and
more we'll see two strong teams keeping each other in balance. The one who wins will
be the one who makes the least defensive mistakes.

Not too interesting for the neutral viewer. Nerve wrecking for supporters of either side.
Maybe it is time to get rid of the Offside rule after all, to make games more interesting.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

The impression I got, as a neutral bystander, were two teams looking for the penalty shoot out. The match itself was only an unnecessary prelude for the final penalties.

Did you see Mascherano out there yesterday? Robben never got the space he needed. Mascherano was the man of the match, imo.

Argentina has a ridiculously tight defense as well.

You're right Dandy. Argentina has a tight defense. But it will be harder for them to mark out Germany since they have several good forwards, not just one big star.
