It's a great solo in of itself but as OzHeavyThrobber wrote it doesn't fit the song.

I think the Stones had/have more going for them musically than just groove and attitude . . .

When I was in high school just getting into rock I would argue Beatles v Stones with a Beatles fan, and one thing I said was how crappy the Beatles guitar leads were. I said the only one worth a damn was Guitar Gently Weeps. The guy practically hyper ventilated. I found out later Clapton did that one.

my opinion:
I have never seen Lennon play "lead" guitar and i dont think he was lead guitar player at all. if im wrong pls gimme some exsamples. Keith's solo is fast and furious and pretty tasteful.

Lennon is not qualified to know what a good guitar solo is. The Beatles weren't good with solos. The kazoo solo on "Lady Madonns" comes to mind. Sheesh.

John played the solo on You Can't Do That and the first solo on Long Tall Sally. As he told Jann Wenner: "I'm not technically good, but I can make it @#$%& howl and move."Quote

Be happy for not seeing John "play" a solo. He was definitely not "fast, furious and tasteful":

You aren't qualified to comment on music because you can't tell the difference between a kazoo and a tenor saxophone.
