Unbelievable, his hittin my old home town - Sundsvall, some 50 km from where I live now, goddam it. At my sons birthday... Guess what I´m gonna give him as a birthday present? No question the geezer is headed downwards, playin in places like Boden & Herning (or how do you comment the latter, Kent? ... But as Herning is the only Danish gig you´l probably go for a tour to the countryside, wont you?).
Interesting that he's going to "Czechoslovakia"......and Slovakia. To follow this logic it ought perhaps have said : "Malmø - Denmark"
Anyway it also says on his web-site that "It is worth mentioning that Bill is available for public speaking and after dinner speaking events". So who'll invite us all for the dinner ??
Funny that Bill said he would quit touring and take care of his family on his web site last year. Sure we do know such statements are short term, but still, it's onlyt 8 months ago. These guys just love to be on the road, and will tour forever.
Are you guys really excited about this tour with Bill? Sure, he's an amazing bassplayer and a former stone, but the stuff he's into now does not interest me at all. I respect him though. Do you think he'll get pissed if someone asks him to sign stones memorabilia.
He usually does the UK in the autumn - he must be starting the European leg much later this year, so maybe he's just taking longer breaks between tours. I've seen them the last couple of years and you certainly get value for money.
You might have to scrape me off the floor at the end of the tour, but it'll be really good scrapings. - Mick Jagger
Bill said he'd quit touring just to keep a space open for the eventuality that Mick call him for the new Stones! - just being ironic nothing to get any hang ups on.
Good to see that he's eager to tour with the rythm kings!
Bill saying he's quitting last year recalls all those times he said he was quitting (then he'd retract) the RS, long before he actually did split, in '93. And at 68, nice to see he still gets a charge from playing live...The speaking engagements may refer to his recent (March?) English archaeology book that he was promoting. He appeared on a radio call in show & the, er, fans' questions were simply appalling ("It must be fascinating, - England is older than America..." the announcer intoned seriously)- there was a book/tie-in promo contest in which a lucky winner would be flown to the UK to dig w/ Bill on his vast property...The RK albums are a bit 'clean' sounding, tho there are some gems, but the live dvd I saw kicked ass.

While I would like to have him and the band back in the USA, I am happy the Rhythm Kings are going back out on the road. Saw them once in Chicago and it was a fun gig. They are a very good band with many talented players, and one doesn't need to break the bank to see them.
saw them while vacationing in Dublin last year at Vicar Street. Great venue - great gig, although the crowd was incredibly lame. Glad BW's retirement was short-lived...

Why decide where to play and what to play just based upon maximizing one's wealth? Bill probably thinks he connects better with the audience in a smaller venue and is probably right, or just enjoys the intimacy.

Or--like many retirees--after a few months puttering around the house and "taking care of his family", his wife and family told him, "Isn't it about time you went to work again? How about a tour?"
