Embarrassingly, I've only recently discovered the music of Little Richard. (I blame classic rock radio, which never plays his music!) And honestly, I am absolutely blown away by the energy and personality that leaps out of my speakers on tracks like the one below. What an incredible talent!!

I was wondering if any of my fellow Stones lovers appreciate this wonderful artist as well?

Hey do what Rockman said. Buy that 6cd set...i was playing it only last week. Little Richard is the queen of rock n roll. One of the best voices of the 20th century and made records wilder than anyone...check the super-fast takes of keep a knockin and ooh my soul....unbelievable.

Little Richard was the Queen of Rock & Roll years before Mick Jagger became one in 1968.

I worked with him once. Outside, rolling up in the limousine he was all flash and Whoo Whoo. Once you get him inside he's actually a quiet, thoughtful person. And a hell of a piano player.

My very first experience with Rock&Roll were the Great: Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis.

When I bought my first Little Richard compilation, I remember hearing this one and I didn't liked at that time, but now it's one of my favorites.

Nuki Suki from 1972's Second Coming is also a great funky track, beating Sly and James Brown at their own game.

Completely honestly, I thought the Stones should have opened their show with Good Golly Miss Molly... The piano opening to be replaced by Keith/Ronnie weaving/dueling!

Little Richard is Awesome!

He has inspired the Beatles, Stones, CCR, Mitch Ryder, and appeared as himself on Sesame Street, the real measure of accomplishment!!

IMHO, Little Richard is in the same class as Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, and Bo Diddley, in terms of influence on the sound and attitude of Rock & Roll.

Exile's "Rip This Joint" is clearly inspired by LR's "Rip It Up".

In my opinion if you are stuck on a desert island with only one CD, it should be Little Richard Greatest Hits. He covers so much ground, but mostly keeps you pumped up!!!!!, Which is what you need to get thru life.

but why would anyone have any doubt or ever have to ask??

Plus which: Stanley Booth's account of his chat with him at the soundcheck for the Stones' 1969 Sullivan appearance
includes one of my all-time favourite Keith Observations: "That Keith Richards sure is a funky-lookin cat!"

Little Richard – one of the true originals!

Unfortunately most of Little Richard's recordings are now only available on cheap compilations that present the songs out of context and ignore Little Richard's original tracklists and artistic intentions. It's therefore important to find the original albums as authorized by Richard. No matter what the critics say, the guy never released a bad album and the Specialty recordings are only the tip of the iceberg.

Lemmy sings the praises of Little Richard as a golden god. In the Lemmy biopic, he refers to Mr. Penniman as the greatest rock 'n' roll singer ever, no one else even close.
