She Saw Me Coming
(Mick Jagger / Keith Richards)

La Fourchette, Pocé sur Cisse, France & St. Vincent, West Indies,
June - September 2004, La Fourchette, Pocé sur Cisse, France,
November - December 2004, March 7 - 9 & March 14 - June 2005 and
Ocean Way Recording Studios, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, US,
June 6 - 28, 2005

Mick Jagger - lead vocals, backing vocals, bass, percussion
Keith Richards - electric guitar, piano, backing vocals
Charlie Watts - drums
Ron Wood - electric guitar, electric slide guitar
Blondie Chaplin - backing vocals

She saw me coming, she saw me coming, yeah
She saw me coming, I didn't see a thing
I wasn't looking, I just walked into it
A sucker for her , I'm a sucker for her, thought I was so cool
She saw me coming, boy, did I get screwed, yeah

She saw me coming, she had me dead to rights
Her aim was stunning, I was lined up in her sights
She worked so fast and she didn't mess around
It was all over, before the sun goes down, before the sun goes down
She saw me coming, yeah, she saw me coming
She saw me coming, she moved in for the kill
She saw me coming, I was served up on her grill
She busted in and she burglarised my soul
But now the bad news, she's out on parole

She wrote the opening, the middle and the end
What a cast of characters, her lovers and my friends
The plot was twisted, there was only one result
She saw me coming, but the going, going got too tough
She saw me coming, yeah, yes, she did
She saw me coming, right on the grid, right on the grid
She saw me coming, I was a stupid jerk
She saw me coming, she was a piece of work, she must have tapped my phone
She saw me coming, I felt like I was cloned
She saw me coming, she had me on the ropes
She saw me coming, took me for a dope
She saw me coming, yes she did, yes she did
She saw me coming, she saw me coming

Produced by Don Was & The Glimmer Twins

Pleasant surprise on ABB. Cool riffs by both Keith and Ronnie. Love Ronnie's slide, and how it melts in with the rest of the music.

Mick overdoes the vocals a little, to my taste anyway.

Lyrics are kind of fun.

I've always really liked this track. It's Stones nice and dirty, the way I like them best. The production's a bit too clean for my taste but nonetheless an excellent later day Stones track and the best on the album imo.

Lyrics are pretty banal let's face it. "Burglarised my soul" !!

A joyful raunchy noise indeed! And it sounds like a full-on Glimmer Twin collaboration, and I love that.
While I firmly subscribe to the view that great lyrics always have many levels of meaning,
it sounds like they're commiserating about Anita and that it's doing them a world of good.
What a cast of characters!

I like it. A nice riff and a very live sounding production. But...is it really Charlie on drums, somehow the hi-hat and the fills doesn´t quite sound like him. Could it be Mick?

a bit overproduced but always liked the song as funny and typical Stones. One of the tracks I most often play from ABB.

Sounds to me like they took this one out of the oven long before it was ready. It's a fragment of an idea, not a fully-realized song.

One thinks it's overproduced, and the other finds it unfinished. Gotta love the Stones (and the fans) grinning smiley

The production is too slick, and the song itself hardly exists.

Unfortunately the song doesn't do credit to the title. It should have been, ahem, wiped.

Like this one from the first listen, another in a long line line of The Stones bashing certain types of women...."Some Girls" indeed.

the shoot 'em dead, brainbell jangler!

A simple, but different, open G-riff by Keith. I like it. But it is Ronnie's guitar playing that really does the song for me thumbs up

One of the songs I have never understood that people praise.
It's Stones by numbers, it doesn't go anywhere and it's repetive and the melody is almost non-existent.

possibly the ONLY stones track i do not like. The melody is more childish then a ...well song for children.

I remember thinking..wtf is this??

Mudbone, do you mean you like "Back to Zero" with its Cameo-like effects?
