I totally agree. I’m so fed up with people complaining about the fact that bands like The Who choose to continue playing live and making music. I was also there in March and it was brilliant! Are they still young men? No but so aren’t we the audience either. If you don’t like it, rot at home, then there’s more tickets for the rest of us.

You miss the point. I won't buy a ticket to see The Who: they're overpriced imitation.

They need to STFU.

It's that simple.

They make nostalgia bread for people to eat.

I'll stay home and not waste my money, grow at home, and you go ahead and waste your money watching two disgruntled people and LOVE IT.

Roger is a flakey caked old tart. He can't keep his stupid mouth shut.

The Rolling Stones never treat their fans that way.

I know you hate their current incarnation, GLS, but that's not a valid comparison.

The man who wrote those genius songs is still there, and playing fantastic guitar (albeit inconsistently), and the guy who sung most of them is still in incredible voice (as I saw in March in London).

Of course, they are very far from the monster juggernaut live act that paraded from 65-82, but there are certainly still flashes of brilliance.

I think if they did more intimate shows, more acoustic vibe, it would work better,

But it is really not a Mike-Love-in-a-Hawaiian-shirt-sing-the-songs-written-by-his-cousin-(who he hates)-type of show.

I love The Who.

The current incarnation has done a great job. I just wish someone would STFU.

However...

They've been coasting on their laurels, hence the Beach Boys comment.

Not a comparison. The Who have always played their instruments. And they have nothing new to offer.

They're not The Rolling Stones.

But what about 2019's "The Who"? Last time I gave it a spin it sounded and looked new even though I prefer Endless Wire which was a brilliant record. They may not offer anything new down the line but six years ago ain't that long ago n'est-ce pas?

People complain about Stones albums being Mick solo with the Stones.

Hopefully they STFU after this.

What a waste of time.

The English Beach Boys.

Just like the Stones two original members a lead vocalist and a guitarist

Except for new material in 1994, 1997, 2002, 2005, 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2023.

And except for being honest about what they do and not treating their fans like crap.

Pete just made a new announcement about 30 minutes ago, "Zak has lots of new projects, and he is wished the best, so Scott Devours will join The Who for our final shows."

Zak Starkey's response:

I was fired two weeks after reinstatement and asked to make a statement saying I had quit the who to pursue my other musical endevours this would be a lie. I love the who and would never had quit. So I didn’t make the statement ….quitting the who would also have let down the countless amazing people who stood up for me (thank you all a million times over and more) thru the weeks of mayhem of me going ‘in an out an in an out an in an out like a bleedin squeezebox x To clarify ‘other projects’ yes I do have other projects and always have. The Who have been sporadic or minimalist in touring most years apart from a two extensive tours in 2000 and 2006/7
To be precise while I was in the who 1996-1999 I had other projects with Johnny Marr, Lightning Seeds and Mike Scott.
2000-2003 Johnny Marr and The Healers opening for oasis in Europe releasing album and 6 month world tour 2004-2008 Oasis 2 studio albums and 120live shows. 2006-2017 Pengu!Ns , Sshh touring internationally. Releasing 3 singles, Kasabian bbc proms 2007 Weller Coxon Starkey Mani.
2015 Hollywood Vampires Roxy LA shows and rock in Rio 2017-2020 Trojan Jamaica record label releasing three albums and winning Grammy for best reggae album 2020
2020 Peter Green Tribute Concert . As u see there has always been time for other projects … 2022-2025/now mantra of the cosmos with Shaun Ryder Bez Andy Bell and NG. Releasing singles but not touring cos members are so busy. None of this has ever interfered with The Who and was never a problem for them . The lie is or would have been that I quit the who- i didn’t. I love the who and everyone in it.

O dear o dear, what a crying shame for it all to end like this. Glad I saw them in the RAH on Sunday 30th March 2025. It very much looks as if that'll be it - no more in UK, Europe, or anywhere bloody else, after these North American shows !

It all had/has to end sometime I guess ! From hereon, it's all memories and concert ticket stubs ! Furkin' hell !

I think that is a misunderstanding. I think it’s a farewell tour of North America. They will keep going in Europe - if they have the health for it.

Utterly abominable. And after Roger had the gall to claim catgorically that the previously reported antics of his were all fake news. He should come clean instead of hiding behind Pete, which is what it looks like yet again.

Shameful mess with Starkey.

As for Daltry. I attended a solo show of his at a House of Blues maybe 12 years ago or so. Daltry traded insults throughout the night with audience members who were complaining over the sorry state of Daltry's vocals and the overall fact the show was awful.

I saw his solo show about a week ago. Bloody amazing. No insults, just great music and a great band.

i guess i owe gls an apology for thinking he was being to harsh in his judgment of the band

turns out he wasn't being harsh enough

i mean i'm open to hearing the other side of this story but as the facts stand right now shame on rodger

what a terrible way to treat a long time bandmate

I didn't actually think they could stoop lower than last month when this all went down. Not sure who's at fault, but pathetic of the whole organization.

i received the fan club pre-sale code 1 hr before they went on sale Tuesday. The problem is the prices. For the 50th anniversary tour in 2016, I bought second row top of the line VIP for $800 with all the trimmings. This time, the same package is $2500! The second-class VIP package which still gets you into the soundcheck and lounge but no autographed poster is $1900. Are Live Nation out of their frigging minds? So instead I bought regular seat for less than 30 percent of that price.

Now today,3 days after general sale started, there are loads of unsold seats for both shows in Toronto. I've received 4 texts and 2 emails today from TM telling me there are still seats available. I think there will be a dumpster fire for seats a month before the show.

Sadly they are not. It's way too much but people will pay it, especially Stones fans who have enabled this behavior as much as any other band.

Will see them in July in Milano for 120 Euro the golden circle in a small venue. I know it's not The Who but Roger and Pete, but for one living in a country where The Who in whatever reincarnation had never play there, I'm excited for the opportunity to seem what ever remains of them.

Regarding the critics, just a reminder from Keith:
“No Charlie, no Stones”, Keith Richards has repeatedly stated. Now we have 2 choices, seeing them play without Charlie or not see them at all. Keith is not the same player for nearly 20 years and there's nothing for me like seeing him on stage.

I agree, it all stinks rather badly. What a horrible and grubbily stained exit from the world stage for the mighty WHO. It saddens me enormously.

Having watched a couple of interviews with Zak on YouTube, it has to be said that he comes across like decent fella. He’s got a bit of an Oasis-like swagger about him; sort of ‘London’ Liam Gallagher. He’s has the ‘look’, too

"The Who are heading for retirement, whereas Zak is 20 years younger and has a great future with his new band and other exciting projects. He needs to devote all his energy into making it all a success . We both wish him all the luck in the world.

Scott Devours – Who fans will know him from Roger’s solo shows – will be replacing Zak. We hope all our fans will welcome him."

Additionally, The Who have added a second night in Chicago, IL — Tuesday, September 9 at United Center — due to incredible fan demand. Joe Bonamassa will support both Chicago dates.

What a load of tosh! The Two are making it sound as if they are doing Zak a magnaminous favour! They are presumably not long off retirement, which would still leave young Zak plenty of time after that to devote all his energy to making his projects a success, as they put it. So the damage limitation ain't fooling no one, or at least not me.
