I wonder if the 'farewell' tag will drum up more ticket sales? Seems they've been heavily discounting them on recent tours.

The only thing that might have generated any real interest at this point would have been if they really had fired Zak, and then brought back Kenney Jones to do the final tour. That would have at least reunited three-fourths of the 1979 lineup. Only Entwistle would have been missing.

I don't really think that would have generated any excitement.

Saw The Who in 89 a few months before Stones. Both did 2 shows at BC Place in Van. Saw them last in 2019, last concert I saw before Covid closed everything down. Liam Gallagher opened, decent. I'll try and get tickets for Vancouver again. I'm sure this will actually be their last time here.

Saw them in Seattle ‘19, also with Liam. Eddie Vedder came out for Punk and the Godfather, was a magic night.

Love The Who, saw them in ‘79, and again in ‘82. Those two albums with Kenny were mostly duds, but there were flashes on each. Onstage, they were still a force. Couldn’t see them again until 2016 at Desert Trip and not surprisingly they smoked. There was rumblings in 2016 that they were done touring. Some of their road crew were on the flight out of Palm Springs and said they think they might continue a little longer.

Last time I saw them was in Houston, where Roger couldn’t continue the show…they played maybe 7 songs before they called it quits. Eventually the show was cancelled after 2 or 3 attempts to reschedule it.

Seems like some folks who paid $75 for early ticket access via the fan club didn't get their code this morning, or got it well after tickets went on sale.

Fooled again.

That is really dismaying to hear, as I had that exact same experience a few years back. I fought with the fan club for a refund just on principle. They tried to fob me off with some other "benefit" that was of no interest to me whatsover, as the only thing I'd wanted was the early access.

I flatly refused their offer and eventually they caved in and gave me the refund. But if they hadn't, I would have done a chargeback via my credit card company because they breached their contract with me to provide something that I never got.

I love The Who, but they seemed to have toured so much recently, to ever-diminishing returns.

Also, what's with that crappy logo/poster? Looks like they let Rog loose on MS Word >grinning smiley<

The farewell tag ain't bringing anybody back to life.

I saw them on their '82 "Farewell Tour" so it's not enticing me any. drinking smiley

Hopefully they STFU after this.

What a waste of time.

The English Beach Boys.

I know you hate their current incarnation, GLS, but that's not a valid comparison.

The man who wrote those genius songs is still there, and playing fantastic guitar (albeit inconsistently), and the guy who sung most of them is still in incredible voice (as I saw in March in London).

Of course, they are very far from the monster juggernaut live act that paraded from 65-82, but there are certainly still flashes of brilliance.

I think if they did more intimate shows, more acoustic vibe, it would work better,

But it is really not a Mike-Love-in-a-Hawaiian-shirt-sing-the-songs-written-by-his-cousin-(who he hates)-type of show.

I totally agree. I’m so fed up with people complaining about the fact that bands like The Who choose to continue playing live and making music. I was also there in March and it was brilliant! Are they still young men? No but so aren’t we the audience either. If you don’t like it, rot at home, then there’s more tickets for the rest of us.

There's absolutely nothing to complain about. If you don't like the Who, or what they are now, don't go to their shows.

I just looked at Shoreline tickets. Holy cow. The seats I would buy are $800. If people are willing to pay that much good for them but I will go spend my funds on other artists.

Well I won't be paying 800.00 but i'm going to go to the Vancouver show to send off one of my all-time fav bands and guitarists !

Holy crap, that is an outrageous price for a WHO ticket. Who, in your opinion, is setting these sorts of prices ? Is this legit face value, or is this TM's "dynamic pricing" going insane ?

I picked up 2 tickets this morning for the Van City show for $97 each. It’s in the rafters but it’ll do me, I’ve seen the Who front row in 2007, as long as I’m in the venue and can hear the band I don’t really care where I am.

It's a farewell tour. I think the prices will be very high, after all it's The Who. This time I think it's real, don't think they can keep up with the demand of touring as a band. They said so much in the press conference. I feel these legacy bands want to go out with a bang rather than a whimper. Which make me think of The Stones of course. I know they did a good job last year, but how much more magic could they possibly have. Fingers crossed for everyone and everything.

Agree, you have the two most recognizable members still there and the sound is as well, enjoy it for what it is. I've seen them with Kenny Jones, Simon Phillips, and Zak Starkey (twice). All excellent. I just don't see the need to go again.

It is a far cry from the Beach Boys without any of the 3 brothers (who wrote and sang much of the songs) or their original guitar player, or worse yet Skynyrd, Foreigner, Little River Band, Molly Hatchet, etc without any original members.

I kinda quit going to the Allman Brothers for the same reason, they were a bit of a triple threat, blues, rock, southern rock band with Dickey, they lost a third of that without him and it was just too different. Still love them however.

The seats are similar to the seats we used to get from friends in the box office front section first 15 rows. It's presale so hard to say if its dynamic pricing or not but either way not worth the coin unless I knew I was getting a Desert Trip level performance. I am not going and sitting on the lawn for ANY band at this venue. Those tickets are much less obiously.

$250 - $475 cad for rear floor seats in Vancouver. Hard pass. I'll wait for the fire sale.

I love The Who.

The current incarnation has done a great job. I just wish someone would STFU.

However...

They've been coasting on their laurels, hence the Beach Boys comment.

Not a comparison. The Who have always played their instruments. And they have nothing new to offer.

They're not The Rolling Stones.

But what about 2019's "The Who"? Last time I gave it a spin it sounded and looked new even though I prefer Endless Wire which was a brilliant record. They may not offer anything new down the line but six years ago ain't that long ago n'est-ce pas?

Got Amex presales on Tuesday. Still lots of tickets for Vancouver. In 2019 Eddie joined them on stage in Vancouver also. Pete said he followed the band up from Seattle.
