Looking good! Is it only a website release or can one buy it outside who.com? The customs charge are ridiculous these days

I’m not psyched about them having a 7th member but still better than not having any shows at all. Looking forward to seeing any videos which emerge.

I make it an 8 piece band but this is the format that gave us live versions of I Can See For Miles and Pictures Of Lily back in 2015 so here's hoping...

I have a ticket for Thursday. An 8 piece sounds better to me that with orchestra.

I saw them at the RHA about 3? years ago - an accoustic focused big band, with fantastic harmonies that really lit up those amazing songs.

I can't wait!

I will be there on Sunday to see them at the last of this year's TCT gigs.

On the last Who album there is a great tune called Break The News written by Simon Townsend. For some reason Pete and Simon were looking for guitarist to play the guitar part. It sounded like a big secret at first. LA session guitarist
Andrew Synowiec got the job to record the guitar parts. Pretty cool story.

I was there last night. To be honest, it was a rather uninspired set list. At times PT seemed rather dis-engaged (possibly because of his recent knee op), and brother Simon did a lot of the heavy lifting, but Roger was in very impressive voice.

The overall sound of The Who, however, was pretty lacklustre. Support act Level 42 (very very far from my favourite band) had a much louder, punchier sound, whereas the Who was quite muted - especially the bass and drums. Zak is a great player, but the drums didn't kick you in the guts, and the cymbals (electro ones) were almost inaudible.

By contrast, I loved that setlist and will not complain if I hear it repeated song for song on Sunday. Don't think I've ever heard them do Love Ain't for Keeping before or, if I have, it was a very long time ago.

As to the sound, I found it a definite improvement after Level 42, who sounded very muffled and fuzzy to my ears until later on in their set, when it seemed to improve slightly.

Pete's standouts for me were on 5.15 and Won't Get Fooled Again and Roger was especially tremendous on Love, Reign o'er Me.

Pete seemed very happy about his recent knee replacement, which he said happened four and half weeks ago, and at one point he did quite a funny impression of Mick Jagger moves.

Ha! There you go Beast, same show different takes! I certainly enjoyed it, and marvel at seeing my lifelong heroes so close up. As you say, Roger was in fearsome voice!

I went to the RAH show 3 years ago, with a kind of folky/acoustic version of the Who and enjoyed it much more than last night.

Haven't played the show yet but the drums sound weird from directly behind off Zak's phone on the soundcheck. Almost wish we could get them at massive Desert Trip like show here so maybe Pete would wake up a bit more (in Brian's blog he said Pete remembers that as the last great show without an orchestra).

Yeah Dan, PT asked the crowd last night if anyone wanted the orchestra back, to a resounding 'no!'

'I do!' responded Pete, mentioning that with the orchestra he could just pretend to play!

About half an hour in and it does sound kinda lackluster. Not bad, these guys are all getting older. Pete talking about his leg replacement, Roger talking about how he can't really hear or see. At a certain point I'm happy they're out there at all. On paper, that's a pretty perfect setlist, though I'd obviously love some deeper cuts. But hard to go wrong with any of that. And Roger is truly in great voice. Astounding given where he was at like a decade or whenever ago. The whole thing feels a bit going through the motions but not meaning to be as harsh about it. As long as they want to, I'm happy there's a "Who" that still goes out and plays these songs. Soon enough that won't be the case and I'm sure I'd like even this at that point.

Interesting! The couple of times I saw them with the orchestra, I thought the drums sounded too weak, and Zak is still using the same setup. In the youtube video posted in this thread though, they sound fine, maybe the sound wasn't even throughout the room.

I do notice the tempos seem to be a bit slow.

As far as Pete/Simon - after the Endless Wire era ended around 2009, Pete has taken more of a backseat, it seems like. He can still play a good solo when he wants to, and it's nothing at all like Keith's situation, he does still play the whole show, but he's been much more content to strum in the background for the last 15 years. When he gets going he does still go, though.

I can hear myself shouting 'We love you Pete!' just after Who Are You - and Pete says 'thank you for all the love' and goes on to tell about his knee.

Thanks for posting Prof!
