To me, the lip-synch scream is completely unacceptable.
I wouldn't have a problem with a backing track scream, but don't try to fake it.
Good bye.

Do we know for a fact that he is lip-synching? It could be a backing track and that Roger is screaming live as well.

It's fake.
It's fun to believe in the Easter Bunny too, huh?

You know its fake because it sounds too perfect and he nails it every night. Again, I'm (maybe controversially) ok with the pre-recording. Its a famous moment, and people want to believe, but there's no need to call attention to it in reviews and there are so many videos online that highlight specifically THAT as to why the show is good. I guess that's the point, but I'm sure the rest of the show is good and highlight that than the one fake part, which inadvertently makes their praise feel so fake.

I thought it was well known that the famous scream was playback for several years? I might be wrong but I think after his surgery a few years back he did it live again for awhile. Although would be nice if they announced it's authenticity, I think it's okay to give him a pass in this case.

i'd love it if one of these shows rodger hands pete the mic at the last minute and has him mime the the scream instead

now that would be a fun way of acknowledging it

Watch the video posted here. Roger is clearly not singing. He spits water ffs.

And although he didn't say it's a recording, he did say he's not going to do the scream anymore.

Okay, didn't know this. I'm not into The Who as much as The Stones. I can understand people wanting to hear the scream but at the same time he's not in his prime anymore and I think peoples expectations maybe too high. If they tour Europe next year I'd still go and enjoy it for what it is.

Its an important moment that he's painted himself into a corner with. When I saw them over a decade ago, the first thing my dad asked the next day was "how was the scream?" Its a legendary moment everyone wants to witness, and that's why its recorded so that its never screwed up.

Man, of all the incredible songs The Who made, amazing lyrics, chord sequences, dynamics and guitar playing, 'the scream' is what counts?

Says everything about how music is experienced in some parts of the world nowadays. A good analogy is Scorsese's true words about the movie business and those rubbish Marvel movies.

For a tour that's already not selling, I'm a little shocked they're adding a last minute stop in the desert in the middle of the week. They're playing two nights at the Hollywood Bowl in LA in a few days and I would imagine anyone in this area will get their fill of them with that.

Made a last minute decision and took in the show at Madison Square Garden. I was not disappointed tho' being likely the last time the Who plays there it was bittersweet as I remember many notable nights of the Who @ MSG, especially when they stole the show at the Concert for NYC after 9/11.

Long Live Rock indeed !

Either it was a great double bill or Joe Perry blew The Who off the stage tonight as the special guests opening the show. Played an amazing setlist, brought out Slash and Steven Tyler as had been reported earlier in the day. I'm sure the Who were very good as I'm guessing they've been on this tour, but crazy for a special guest opener to have such fireworks. I'd have loved to be there but the Steven Tyler news came too late in the day for me to readjust my plans.

Joe Perry opening setlist:

1. Let the Music Do the Talking
2. East Coast, West Coast
3. Combination (classic Aerosmith deep cut)
4. Twice as Hard (because Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes is Joe's lead singer)
5. Mama Kin (with Slash)
6. Vasoline (because members of Stone Temple Pilots is in Joe's band)
7. Get It Up (awesome Aerosmith deep cut)
8. Last Child
9. Chip Away the Stone (awesome Aerosmith deep cut)
10. Walk This Way (with Steven Tyler)
11. The Train Kept A-Rollin' (with Steven Tyler)

Great night for fans of both bands that were there.

I think Live Nation paid a flat rate plus bonuses for the tour so this is to make up for the canceled Chicago show.
