I was there. I don’t believe for a second that it had anything to do with how he played. But things happen. People have their reasons, and this is the story they want to share with the public. Bands evolve though. Next chapter. The Who goes on. I personally loved the version of the band that played RAH a few years back (Rogers band), and would love to see them do a tour.
If they come back through here again I would see them, but the clips I've seen from Roger's most recent solo band sound pretty anemic to me.
This doesn't feel that long ago, but somehow it was 18 years ago - the power they still had here is amazing I think. I could listen to this version of the band jam for a really long time. [www.youtube.com]

Am I wrong or was there no plexi glass in front of Zak's drums at RAH? Even though he used the particular sort of electric drums I seem to hear Roger saying after quitting singing that "there is no plexi/barrier..." (incomprehensible, maybe he says "there's no pitch here" but my suggestion would make sense)
On a side note, Pete's guitar roadie seems to be ready with the Gibson jumbo had they chosen to perform it acoustically, quick thinking!

Max, some Oasis fans are speculating that this’ll mean Zak will rejoining Noel and Liam

I thought Zak played great at the RAH, but the drum sound was terrible. Muted and quiet. Level 42 were the warm up act, and their drums sounded so much more vital and kicked you in the guts.
Is it a simple difference of elec. v acoustic drum kits?
I love the Who dearly, and think Roger has an incredible voice, but I have increasingly come to the conclusion over the last couple of decades that he is a bit of a tw@t.

I also thought the was no problem with the drummer. If there was a problem, it would be the stage sound system/people, not the drummer.

I really hope that doesn’t happen - Zak is a great drummer but he didn’t fit Oasis live at all in ‘04-06. Joey Waronker has already signed on for the tour and will be a far better fit.

Interesting, I thought he really fit with Oasis. Listen to Cigarettes and Alcohol from Ryman in Nashville and then let me know what you think...
He was ace during the whole Don't Believe The Truth tour, songs like Acquiesce and Live Forever got their former glory back with that "battleship-like" drumming

Roger said it was his playing not the sound system. Done

There's nothing egregious with the drumming.
Roger couldn't deal.
Roger is done. He just won't fully admit it truthfully.
Can't compare Zak to Keith - Keith Moon would be 78 years old and NOT very likely not playing like he did.
It's atrocious that they fired Zak.
It's weak.
They're done.
Roger has become an old tart and he's upset that he can't keep up with what's presented.
They're way past done. They should've stopped a long time ago.
The Who: 1964-2025.

Hahaha!
Just saw that Zak's back
What a joke!
It did get them a fair few column inches, though. Guess that's all that counts

Indeed indeed! Let's see if Roger deigns to explain his take on it in similar spirit, Am not holding my breath but you never know.
