Three different reviews of the RAH clip aired on "Late Night With Stephen Colbert" noted the performance featured a "full orchestra"...wtf?

Sounds great. Was planning on the Hard Rock show this Friday. Smallish venue where the Stones ended their U.S. tour. Now can't go. I have 2 very good seats to sell at face if anyone interested.

Isn’t it time Roger Daltrey got a Knighthood?

I really think it’s time Roger Daltrey was knighted for his services for teenage cancer trust and of course to music. It’s long overdue.Pete Townsend even made the call at the RAH.Lots of Knights out there have done far less.

You could be right.

Even if it was marked as OT the topic would meet certain "too far out" criteria. Was Mick knighted for showing proof of being a good person?

Re: OT: The Who stuff

Mick’s knighthood was a bit of a nonsense to be honest. His services to music were all entwined with Keefs. The latter of course didn’t want that family shaking a sword in his direction. But to knight one and not the other, crazy.
But back to the Who topic,as it has been classified as,Roger needs a knighthood

From the Palm Beach Post interview:

“You live with the sound of synthesizers making string noises and orchestral noises, which you can do, very simply, on a few keyboards.
But then, you hear a real orchestra and a real violin, viola and cello and a couple basses going — it touches the human body, it touches our senses in a different way. It’s a big experience.” - Roger

Very well said by Roger, and would agree...it's much more impactful to hear the real thing of an actual orchestra with actual instrumentation vs. the artificial replica of synthesizers and noise-making machines.

I live in a country with a King and Queen, but I am maybe going to spoil this thread ...
Who needs kings and queens? Aren't they merely (expensive) decoration these days? Haven't they exploited the hard working people enough over all those many Centuries?
My father-in-law received a decoration (knighthood or anything like that) from the Japanese Emperor ... after his death. I nicely framed it for my (meanwhile) 99 years old mother-in-law, but she doesn't care about it at all. She lived through the war in poverty and hardship, keeping the family alive, while her husband was out there scoring (later on off course) in politics. Tough, tough, tough. She belongs to the Salt of the Earth and, like many of those women, really deserves true appreciation. Not rock stars who merely entertain the world with music (and okay, paid attention to aspects like cancer, etc., but so many other do that too ...) for fun (and sometimes lots of money).
I happen to have an old box with decorations of late relatives. They're just there ... forgotten.

Which is more irrelevant: being knighted or being inducted into the RNR HOF?

Good question but an easy answer. RnR HOF has absolutely no relevance, credibility or importance and is barely mildly interesting. Maybe more so for who is yet again overlooked.

Being knighted is merely irrelevant & unimportant.

Some folks really buy into the fairytale illusion of a disgustingly rich family who don't have any real power, surrounded by sycophants, and mindlessly locked into a 'tradition' that offers not much more than having the prefix 'Sir' before your name, and are considered 'blue-blooded royalty' by a family of murderous racist sexual predators.

I don’t know why I expected anything different but I am sort of amused that the setlist is identical to the Fall 2019 one. Couldn’t have used the time to work up a couple of different tracks, boys?

Almost seems appropriate they started the tour at 1 of the Native American entertainment complexes.

Yeah I thought this an interesting arena for them to play, but it's new so I get it.

This is a new/remodeled Nassau Coliseum I believe.

I keep hoping the will try A Quick One with the orchestra. I think that could be more successful than the tepid attempt in 2016 or 2017 (whenever that was)

UBS Arena is a brand new arena that opened in 2021.

‘14/‘15, but yeah, it wasn’t good. Pete has said he didn’t enjoy revisiting it, either, which makes me think it’s unlikely to come out again, but you never know.

Knighted of course as that's a high honor , versus the other place which is just a high without any buzz .
