Daltrey is so bright and honest. There was an interview recently in which he was asked why the band broke up at a certain time and Daltrey said, paraphrasing here, 'Pete was drinking and out of control. I broke up the band so he could live.' He said this while Pete was standing beside him, looking uncomfortable. Daltrey tried to soften it with a follow-up comment, but he couldn't help being honest.

The Mighty Mighty Who. Thunderous and powerful.
saw them very many times during this period, and also back in 68,
which started me with them as a live act in person.
yep the audio is screwed but i've been thru many a boot, adjusting
my ears to what was there, and focusing on various aspects, and enjoying
them.
I adored The Lovin' Sppoonful, Sebastain's band; in fact huge fan
of guitarist Zal Yanovsky (RIP) to this day. The only Canadian member.
I had all their albums, and for me they were one of the three American
bands I loved the best during the UK Invasion. The others being The Young Rascals into The Rascals and also the West Coast Byrds.
I felt some home spun pride for the other two bands, as i grew up in nyc.
I was too young to go to bars to see The Rascals but saw them at an NBC Studio
in Brooklyn performing live for television taping and it was a gas.
I know a bit of the history of all these guys; all three bands; but not an expert....

The Who here are magnificent; i was totally over the moon; that's an unfortunate unintended pun there.
And saw them anytime they were even not so close.

"I sourced this 8mm film from a trader friend in a bit torrent group I belong to. A few years back when The Who was touring The Who Hits 50 they asked fans for their memorabilia, photos and such. I responded to them saying I have the actual film from Annaheim 1970 but they never responded. I put the film file on a hard drive after that and forgot about it for the longest time. Recently I wanted to show a baseball film transfer to a friend who also liked The Who so I showed them this clip and they were blown away and they were the ones who found this FB page and suggested i contact the page and offer it to the community. So big thanks go out to G&E B. I have since upgraded film transfer machines but have had no luck getting back in contact with the film owner to see if I could get the film for a new transfer. There seem to be shutter issues with panning shots but when the shot is still, its great. For now I am just going to release this YouTube version in case I am able to procure the original film for an upgrade.

If a member of The Who's management is reading this, please contact me so that I can forward the HIGH DEFINITION original capture files to you for your archives. Im sure this footage would have looked great in a video package for Who Hits 50 but better late than never."

If I go it would be primarily to see him.
Huge longtime fan, but he doesn't venture out west much anymore (cue :I Don't Hang Around Much Anymore [www.youtube.com]; )

Loved seeing The Who again at Desert Trip, and their set was great, but for me, that was my farewell.. Unless I am around one of the shows with Peter opening

Not that I'm complaining (as I'll be there with bells on in any case) but The Who just performed in my medium size town on their last mini-tour predating their Vegas thing. I'd never seen them better in the modern era. Less than two years later they're opening here with the new tour which initially was supposed to include symphony orchestras. We have a fine symphony in Grand Rapids but virtually all talk of the orchestra accompaniment, here and elsewhere, has disappeared. Our town is a well known test market so opening here with a new gimmick makes sense but there is no mention of the orchestra in the plethora of advertising they are running. Very strange.

The whole 'symphonic Who' thing has been axed?

Didn't sound like a great idea in the first place, mind.

Pete has to be my favorite other guitarist after Eric and obviously after Keith.
At 7.45 seconds into this video, it is for me, the best Rock and Roll moment ever captured, after Keith Moon's drum solo it cuts in with Pete actually flying, and not just on Coke, and Roger hitting a scream I've never heard bettered in a Rock vocal. It's just an epic performance from the only band who ever really came close to the Stones. I don't know what Pete was on at this time but obviously drugs just aren't this good today the man is higher than high and even higher than that, it's almost unreal like a cartoon, enjoy.

Keithsman, that is indeed an epic (in the true sense of the word) performance.

As for Pete's preferences, two bottles of brandy and a load of blow.

i checked for $20 tix in seattle. don't think there were many. long gone. some other ticket prices are dropping. some $150 tix i was looking at are down to $120 now. i'm going to wait until i see some reports about the tour. still a bit dubious about the whole orchestra thing.

Just picked up two lower level tickets for Detroit, total mailed to me $45. Now that's a hell of a deal.

Many bargains remain for the Grand Rapids show. $20 seats plus many seats in the front for $150. Seems tickets are moving slow.
