Do they not play this live RollingFreak?

If not, they certainly should!

Not in the 34 years I've been attending their shows
Yeah, they don't play it without Bon. He played the bagpipes on it.

I've never seen them live, but after Bon Scott died I never felt the urge to.
Seems a good amount of the set lists are Bon era tunes, but I guess Brian Johnson doesn't play bagpipes.

Agree but after Hockenheim with the Stones it really doesn't matter.

My guess is they have a few decent songs left over from the 2008 'Black Ice' album sessions which the band will polish up in the studio this year. These, along with other unreleased or unfinished tracks from previous sessions, will make up the bulk of their next album release. A 40th anniversary tour planned for later this year will be pushed back until 2015 and if Malcolm Young is healthy enough he may join them...perhaps in a limited role like Mick Taylor does with the Stones. In either case, they will employ another guitarist to cover Mal's parts onstage. After the tour is finished - with or without Malcolm - AC/DC will likely retire.

I wonder if Blondie already has plans in 2015?

Back in early 2012 I asked Blondie directly if he's waiting for the phone to ring. His response was "I'm not waiting around for any phone to ring".

He said it in such a way that I think he knew he wouldn't be part of any future plans....

....but back on topic, I feel that Malcolm would want AC/DC to continue.

All the best to you Malcolm and may you have a speedy recovery.

i imagine they will just get the cousin who filled in for malcolm on some shows in the late 80's to do it again if they want to tour next year

Can't say this bothers me all that much. Great guitar player but I just never could stand schreechers so I've never really cared for this band.

Just like people can't/ couldn't imagine AC/DC without Bon Scot, or Angus Young, I can't imagine AC/DC without Malcom. He's like the Charlie Watts of rock'n'roll rhythm guitar. a Steady Rollin' Man. Best boogie woogie on six strings around!

All hail to him, & a speedy recovery!
And much to my regret: no AC/DC without him.

From Ultimate Classic Rock:

Dave Davies Reaches Out to Malcolm Young with Message of Support

> Message to Malcolm

AC/DC still hasn’t revealed the exact nature of the illness that has forced Malcolm Young to take a break from the band, but the rumors that Young has had a stroke have prompted Kinks founder Dave Davies to pen a message of support.

Davies, who suffered a stroke in 2004, took to his Facebook page to reach out to Young, offering a bit of advice that started with what might be the most important three words for someone in his position can hear: “never give up.”

His post continued with some more practical thoughts, no doubt culled from his memories of his own post-stroke period. “Remember all the important ‘tricks’ you learnt and keep going over and over them in your mind,” he added. “Always exercise your hands and fingers — picking coins from the floor — picking up pins from a flat surface — constantly touch the tips of your fingers with the thumb and try to do it faster and faster — image [sic] playing your best solos ever in your mind before you go to sleep — daily.”

It seems unlikely that the intensely private Young will address the reasons for his hiatus anytime soon, but whether or not the rumors of his stroke are accurate — and whether or not he even reads or hears of Davies’ post — it’s a touching display of compassion and respect from one rock ‘n’ roll sibling to another.

Breaking News: Celine Dion to join AC/DC … Will play air guitar with the band

Re: OT: AC/DC future in question

In regards to nephew Stevie Young, I saw them in 88 in Vancouver at BC Place Stadium and I didn't know it was him filling in for Malcolm. It wasn't until later on that I read about it. Those pre-internet days when you either heard it on the radio/tv or read about it later on in a magazine!
I'm sure the only ones who would have realized it at the time were the die hard fans who were up front and knew the band's faces. I was sitting on the first row on the endzone seats and the stage was set up at mid field so definitely farther back than if it was in a hockey arena.

ANGUS YOUNG :

Malcolm's really underrated. He makes the band sound so full, and I couldn't ask for a better rhythm player. Sometimes I look at Malcolm while he's playing, and I'm completely awestruck by the sheer power of it. He's doing something much more unique than what I do-with that raw, natural sound of his. People like Malcolm, Steve Cropper, Chuck Berry and Keith Richards-they're all doing something better than the rest of us. I can't deny that Eric Clapton's and Eddie Van Halen's lead stuff has influenced a stack of people, but for me it's the rhythm thing that's way more impressive and important to a band.

Malcolm is a big inspiration to me; he keeps me on my feet. Even when I'm tired from running around the stage for two hours, I'll look back at what he's doing and it gives me that boot up the backside I sometimes need. [laughs] Also, he can always tell me if I'm playing well or if I'm not. Mal's a very tough critic, and I know that if I can please him, I can please the world. A lot of people say, "AC/DC-that's the band with the little guy who runs around in school shorts!" But I wouldn't be able to do what I do without Malcolm and the other guys pumping out the rhythm. They make me look good.

Mal is really a great all-around guitarist. I know it says "rhythm guitar" on the album jacket, but if he sits down to play a solo, he can do it better than me. Not a lot of people have picked up on this, but in the early days he used to play lead. But then he said to me, "No, you take the solos. I'll just bang away back here." And what's more, he actually plays rhythms. He just doesn't make a noise; he works them out, and he knows when not to play.

Excellent quote! Like how Angus gives credit where credit is due!
I remember reading a quote that Bon Scott said: Girls used to ask me if I was the AC or the DC, I would say neither. I'm the lightning flash in the middle. Always thought that was a cool quote.
