OT:Cities in the USA related to great guitar players?

I am thinking about visiting cities in the USA that are known(among other things) for being the home or playground of great guitar players. While in the city, I'll try to find a good guitar player/teacher in the style of that great musician and take a couple of classes when also enjoying/discovering the city and its surrounding. I have played guitar for more than 30 years but I like to learn new things from good musicians.

Johnny Winter : Beaumont, Texas. There got to be somebody in Beaumont who knows Johnny's technique !!

Rock and Roll,
Mops

Come visit Washington DC, mops. You can tour the usual sites and, it's not well known, but DC is home, or was home, to a lot of famous guitar players: Link Wray, Bill Kirchen, Nils Lofgren, Jimmy Thackery, Danny Gatton, Mike Auldridge, to name a few.

Check out the Fur Peace Ranch (Ohio) - many different instructors. Try to get Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna) as a teacher.

Look for the open mics and public jams. Many times you can find some of Nashville's top session players sitting behind tip jars simply because they want to play in front of an audience instead of a mixing booth.

Peace,

Mops was just here in DC last June 24th. Met him in the pit. But yeah, he should come again!

You could always check out Greg Koch in Milwaukee, who should be able to teach you just about everybody's style.

Wish I thought of that...I just love Buddy Holly. In the mid-eighties I went to a Buddy Holly Festival there. It was an interesting experience. Met his brother Larry and a childhood friend and guitarist, Tinker Carlin.
