IORR
Tumbling Dice
HTW

are all sounding tired and need to take a vacation for a while.

I'd replace Sympathy, Miss You and Tumbling Dice with Street Fighting Man, All Down the Line and Route 66. And then for good measure, I'd replace It's Only Rock 'n' Roll with Get Off of My Cloud.

They could take out Miss You and Tumblin' Dice for me, but for anyone to suggest not doing the following - they must be crazy...

Jumpin'Jack Flash
Honky Tonk Women
Its Only Rock n' Roll
Satisfaction
Start Me Up

Also, they did often do You Gotta Move in the past - personally I like it on the album but not mad on it "live"

Others I think most want are...

Lets Spend The Night Together
Ruby Tuesday
Gimmie Shelter...

blimey - I could go on!!!

Wow--- And I was thinking I was the only one wish IORR would be retired...

When's the last time it was good? Ha ha! I don't know. 1976?

Do not know but personally I just dislike this song - it is, actually, my personal "Miss You" - i.e: I feel like a tourist in a strange country when it is played - I pretend to like what is happening and join everybody in singing, but I really hate it. Sadly I never attended a Stones sated gig so couldn't turn this song into a piss break - as I should.

Miss You, Shattered, bye bye Johnny, I kow this one has been rarely played live but it's just because I don't know what to choose as the third song to be thrown out

Here is the dilemma these days: If they play the warhorses you know what you will get, if they play "rarities" you don't. In many cases the "rarities" will sound
like something rehearsed for the first time on stage. So don't ask for too much...

one of the problems i have with the stones is that many warhorses become warhorses only because they have been played to death and not always because they are better songs.

examples of these are

miss you
start me up
tumblin dice
miss you
you got me rocking
honky tonk woman

each of those songs could have been rotated with possible another 2 or 3 other songs each, thus providing other songs with some opportunity to become warhorses themselves.

the result of this not happening is that many, and in a lot of cases better songs have been ignored and for years rarely get played and when they do, may only constitute 1 or 2 surprises per concert.

songs which could have and should have been rotated with some of the warhorses and which in many cases are better are

loving cup
she was hot
heartbreaker
the last time
star star
if you cant rock me
crazy mama
bitch
stray cat blues

how many of those songs would be warhorses if they had been given the same attention as miss you, start me up, tumblin dice etc.

one of the stones failings, but i shouldnt complain too much.

2000 Light Years From Home - Was very good in Glastonbury, placed before Sympathy it's a great song

Did you really enjoy the Glastonbury version? There have been many posts people claiming how great the Glastonbury version was. I only know it from the video and I find it absolutely dreadful untill the end of the first verse or so. Then they got it together somehow, but the start is just painful to watch / listen to. The whole Glastonbuty show is fantastic, but this was a low point for me.

Yes the start was not the greatest grinning smiley
But then they got it and it went on very good til the end. Great that they played it at all, it could be worked in a fantastic, scary live version again with a big rehearsing. Just like '89/90.

The setlist has looked the same since (at least) a decade: There is some variation in the first 1/3 of the show. The last 2/3 are the same warhorses.
"Rarities" are usually limited to maximum 2 per show. On rare occasions 3.
Why do you think they are about to change that pattern this time around? Which signs points in that direction?

Guess that no signs but due to some reason people still hope for that = people still gt disappointed and irritated when it doesn't happen. Guess that people (hard core fans) cannot understand that while they themselves are experienced backpackers looking for the hidden places and off the beaten track routs RS gigs are 5 star cruises these days - and the majority of people paying much $$$ for a fancy cruise are hardly the hiker type. Yes - the 100 Euros + per ticket gigs are fancy cruises and people paying expect to see Rome, Athens, Istanbul and Barcelona. They would be terribly pissed discovering that half of the above were replaced by stops in charming little marina's somewhere no one ever heard of. They just do'nt pay for that. And they are the vast majority. People who go to RS gigs expect to know all songs but 1-2 + the 2 Keith songs.
