Mick w/Bill Wyman shirt 1994

Thought this was interesting. Hadn't noticed it before...

Mick Jagger (wearing a skirt), but sporting what appears to be an improvised Bill Wyman tabloid shirt, while performing JJF in Oakland in 1994....

The magazine cover is "Bill Wyman, Suzanne Accosta - Hello! Magazine Cover [United Kingdom] (22 October 1994)" seen here...

The camera guy tries hard to catch it.

Did that date of the magazine roughly coincide with the date of the concert? In other words was it a relevant story at the time? Seems to be a bit of a shot a Bill. Still fresh sour grapes over his quitting?

Interesting. Why would he wear a tabloid picture of Bill onstage? Or is it a April fool's joke?

Video uploaded Uploaded on Oct 25, 2011 apparently. The 1994 dates seem to match up.... a friendly shout out to Bill introducing his daughter to the public??? A shot at Bill, or subtle acknowledgement during "his" signature riff? or both? idk....

Wasn't it the Oakland gig that was taped and sold as a VHS at the following concerts. I have a copy of that VHS somewhere laying around...

That is odd.

Given Mick's normal behaviour in public, I'd say it's some sort of homage.

He's not one to express sour grapes so publicly.

I think you're right. Jagger seemed well past any public sort of gratuitous cheap shots by 1994...

Looks like it's stuck on with a safety pin!

Was it some sort of "you made the cover of some crap people mag with your offspring!?
F@ck you Bill you're dead to us!" grinning smiley

Or... as the show was taped on Oct. 31, is it Mick's Halloween's costume? >grinning smiley<

Ah, it's obviously an homage, celebrating Bill's grandpa'dness.

Didn't mick say something about Wyman being to old to be there or something like that during the first show at Washington DC? I think he's giving him another jab.

"There wasn´t so much talk about health-care since Bill left the band!"

I was there, and I thought it wasn´t really funny, because I missed him (and still do).

I think it's actually funny...and while it's a shot at Bill, I think everyone is in the 'know' that they are all basically the same age.

Bill's got like 5-6 years on them, hardly referring to another generation!

There was a VHS tape of the August 14 gig from Giants Stadium. I have that somewhere as well.

The show I saw at the Rose Bowl in L.A. in '94 had Mick say, "Bill Wyman!" during intros, then he'd feign ignorance, "Oh, he's not here anymore." Don't know if he did that the whole Voodoo Lounge tour.

I think Bill Wyman looks great considering he's nearly 80. If he stays healthy there's a good chance he will live long enough to be the oldest surviving original member.

I hadn't heard about Jagger joking about Bill onstage after he left the group. It all sounds pretty good natured to me. If there were any hard feelings I doubt Mick would ever bring him up at all. And of course, the band kept his slot open for all those years.
