The 'weird vibe' in 2003 Melbourne sounds intriguing. What happened?

The BBC sessions are of course something we'd all love to have.
But as has been said here, there is little money for the band to be made there as much of those are covers.
Mocambo would be great to have a complete set of.
And so much more.
Lots of it should be released on bluray discs. That would be nice.

1969 tour rehearsals

In addition to rough justice's listing, I'd like:
1982 Sir Morgan Cove, Worcester, MA
1972 Vancouver
1994 Toronto RPM Club
1997 Horseshoe Tavern, Toronto
1999 Shepherd Bush, London
2002 Orpheum Theatre, Boston, MA
2002 Roseland Ballroom, NYC
2012 Le Trabendo, Paris
2013 Echoplex, LA

I know some of these recordings are available, but I'd buy them in a heartbeat if the soundboards are released!

I'd love an audio release of the full Austin show that was featured on the Biggest Bang dvd. Keith doing Learning The Game was quite exquisite.

Here you go geordie!

All of the past archive downloads have been pressed into silver discs by bootleg labels.

I would love to have ABKCO release full multitrack recordings from the 1969 U.S. tour. The Maysles Brothers have stated they recorded all the MSG shows and some of the others so lets have em! Also wonder how much more video footage is left from that tour in the vault.

I would also love to see the complete Altamont concert video as Charlotte Zwerin stated she saw a copy of it.

I for one would love to have more of the 1969 shows, preferably the shows they did on the east coast (the Stones were well oiled). Anyway, many years ago, I was on vacation and went to the home of a fellow Stones trader (who shall remain nameless) who knows that I love the 69 shows and he played soundboard samples of MSG from 11/69. I pleaded with this guy to make me a copy and he wouldn't do it because he did not want this stuff circulating because he knew it would be traced back to him. I suspect that he knew someone high up in the Stones organization. So I know that this stuff is out there.

WOW SH you are a lucky camper to have heard the 69 MSG SB's! at least it gives hope they will surface someday at least in bootleg form.

Two of them circulate as soundboards already, no?

If the remaining stuff in the vaults is just half as good as the Some Girls bonus tracks we are going to be in for some real treats in the coming years.

In that case, like the Exile material, its going to take a considerable amount of new lyrics and vocal overdubs before the Stones consider it releasable!

Put every show they have on a website and let me people download what they want. Right now they're just sitting in a vault costing them money for storage. It's time to make some cash.

LOL

Its not just that. The tapes will also deteriorate sooner rather than later.

Gazza, what do you know of the songs recording during the sessions for '40 Licks'? There has to be a few still unheard. Van Halen's last was mainly songs from their vaults. I do wish the Stones would do another 'Tattoo You' style album.

No more than anyone else mate. However, as they claimed to have recorded about 25-30 songs in two weeks and the four they chose to release were somewhat unspectacular, I think, considering the elephant-like gestation of the average Stones album session, its pretty safe to say that the songs we didnt get to hear were either unfinished, a bit shite or both.

They kinda did. Quite a few songs on A Bigger Bang were leftover from 'Alfie' and the bonus Exile and Some Girls discs had a lot of brand new lyrics and vocals added to very old demos.

Tattoo You was an album they could get away with because the songs - by modern standards - werent that old. They got a bit of stick at the time for digging out old demos, but this was at a time when they were releasing a new album every year or two and their most recent studio album had come out only 14 months previously.

We're now talking about a band who despite having three songwriters have barely spent a month together in recording studios in the last decade and a half. To pass off reworked demos that are anything from 20-40 years old as a 'new' album at this stage would be a bad joke.

If they have to touch up some of those songs for deluxe editions of old albums or a boxed set of outtakes - because there's insufficient finished takes available - thats well and good, but not as a fresh album.

If I had my way, their would be a "deluxe edition" of every CD - all the way back to their debut. The 60's outtakes and alternates are great and really should be released some day - some of the bootlegged stuff sounds terrific and if done right could likely sound even better with official release. I remember a few years ago hearing the Chess Outtakes on one of the "Time Trip" Cd's - blew me away.

I would also really like the alternate stuff that goes with Sticky Fingers, and al the other 70's-80s CDs.

My god, if what they released was 'the best' from those sessions, who would care what crap magnificence must be in the vaults? Put those in with Undercover and Dirty Work outtakes and blow 'em up, blow 'em up real good.

I think they should skip the Deluxe editions of albums, because they don't really make any sense -- and dump the hilariously overpriced huge boxes full of scarves and postcards -- and make some proper live and outtake boxes of the '69-73 era. I have nothing, or at least not much, against the '74-'82 period, but the Taylor tours are still criminally underrepresented.

24FPS, the Stones have on many occasion admitted to releasing what was ready. Case in point, 'Emotional Rescue.' Keith said during a interview when it was released that they had better tracks in the vault. The following album prove this. 'Tattoo You.' Any of the song on that album could have been used on 'ER.' Mick said the 4 songs on '40 licks,' where songs that were ready. "Don't Stop' was a song intended for a solo album that he held over for the Stones. Chuck Leavell has said more than once that better songs were record. We know about the left overs from 'UC' and 'DW" but nothing of the songs from '40 Licks' sessions. That is a mystery to me I would like to solve. The Stones are not great at picking songs for release. We all know the story about 'Satisfaction.' Charlie once said when they would go into the studio, Mick had no interest in songs they were left over from the previous sessions. We do not want to talk about the horrible editing on 'Live Licks' nor the liner notes from 'Rarities.'

Gazza, thanks for your reply. I agree with you on some points. But a song like 'Your Precious Love' from Steel Wheels would still brighten a new album as would a finished version of 'Honest Man.' Even though I do like the basic recording we do have. "Zip mouth angel' is another. 'FYPL' is 25 years old. The other 2 are both 20 years old. A classic Stones songs ages well with time. Look at 'Rough Justice' a song that would fit on about any Ron Wood era album. This is all of course, IMHO.

Personally, I wish they would do a deluxe version of every album. Even the songs they left off the greatest hits packages. The last two.

Hard to believe the Stones would not be smart enough to digitize what is left in the "vault" but if that is true some real gems could be lost for ever.

I had all three Garden shows of 69 on cd but left them with a friend and am still to retrieve them but that aside know they're in circulation simply because of that. Cleaned up professionally they'd be great.

I think out of all of them these three shows on DVD would be my hope but I really don't know how much of it was shot.

I've heard some of them. "Just Because" is a really good country-tinged rocker. "When I Call Your Name" is an old style R&B number. The stuff I've heard would probably require new final vocals a la Some Girls.

Two nice takes, but a 21 year old original and a 26-year old cover? On a new album? Nah. They'd be an utter joke if they did that. Really. It'd be the ultimate in barrel scraping. Thats the sort of thing a label does to an artist who has died in order to squeeze the last drop out of them, They're doing it with Michael Jackson at the minute.

I'd imagine every decent band in the world has unreleased songs of that standard that didnt fit on a record.

How about,,...gasp....they write some new songs instead and keep the leftovers for a boxed set or for deluxe editions. We're not exactly asking them to split the atom.
