I think that Portugal is often forgotten in the treads because it´s a small country, but we do have GREAT CROWDS for the Stones, as you can confirm reading BV´s review of the Coimbra - 2003 show or after hearing the DaLapa Incident (Lisboa 1995). The Stones recorded here in Portugal some tracks for the Stripped album!!!
And for the record. Porto is a great and unique city. In fact the city center is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. I went through Porto for the Coimbra show in 2003, and just loved the city and that area. Plus the great crowd of course.
And for all of you that are wine enthusiasts, Portugal as really fantastic wines, and, talking of Porto, the Port Wine, of course, (Vintages are the best category).
If you have time you should visit the Douro Valley, were the Port wine is produced: it is an amazing landscape that could be visited by boat (starting in Porto) or by train (a 19th century train)!!!
Ryanair takes you there for almost nothing from Stanstead London. I usually pay 20-30 pounds for a ticket with a return flight, and with tax, all included. That is 40 dollars/euro.
Two questions for Bjornulf or any other knowing person -
1) Any recent rumour on Benidorm/Alicante? I know they have played at least the former at some tour.
2) No more shrinkening of the frames around Göteborg-/Nya Ullevi... ? Does it point towards before mid-July or after... Or will it get stuck there - God forbid - in the very middle of July (tough time in Sweden where we all sit in little forest lakes & tryin to catch fishes with slippery wormbs... Or (even more common) all are zonked out of the heat & all the booze.
As soon as we´ll have a European Travel Guide, I will post information for all the fans in Europe: places to stay, places to visit, restaurants to go etc,
Have you guys noticed that the Helsinki gig now is placed in June (still rumour nb)... May is quite dense for 2006.
I was just wondering when they´ll hit Göteborg; and have guessed July before when asked.
As May is so dense (with Western European & British isles) RUMUORED dates & the tour aint gonna keep on forever in 2006, it looks like we´re havin´ our boys in (South-)Western Sweden (the front side...), Göteborg & Nya Ullevi that is, in late June or July... As Roskilde always is last weekend of June or - more common - first weekend of July that may affect a great deal on when the Stones gig(s) here will be dated. .......Just guessing & a litte bored, but anyway... Anyone knows when Roskilde´06 will roll? (I´ll otherwise write its arrangeers within a couple of days.)

Thank you, erikjjf! At least I would not guess that the Stones would play neither Denmark nor Göteborg during those dates. Before 28th of June or after the 2nd, maybe with one or two days buffer zone between Stones dates & Roskilde. Theoretically Helsinki would be possible at June, 27-28 (first date of Roskilde has alway been of minor value, only important for insiders or friends of wanna-be-bands) or at July, 3-4.
The only dates rumour among the European is Amsterdam, 7-8 July. Would be a low-odds bet to propose Göteborg at July, 5 or about 26th-28th of June for Göteborg and similar dates for Copenhagen (though not period June 28-July 4).
Amsterdam, given its correct, would be the other point from which it would be possible to conclude or make a prognosis for a date in the North. I guess after 8th of July would be just as possible as before; and then, if we´ll count with one or two vacant days (recreation for our Stones) after the 8th of July we´d - in that case - have the Stones in Göteborg in the 10th or 11th of July... How I wish they stayed for some days & did some smaller venue.
Conclusions sofar; the Swedish arrangeers/EMA would avoid Midsummer and Roskilde Festival. Alternatives sofar: Stones in Göteborg and/or Helsinki and/or Denmark mid-June; 27th of June; 5th of June; or after the 9th of July. From some previous tours (e.g. BtB ) I´ve seen they dont always tour our Nordic countries all in a row... That not-excpected-pattern seems likely to be the case now.
