Will taxis be easier available? It's not going to be easy rearranging work stuff at such short notice, and I have no ticket (or flight booked yet) but I'm considering trying to get to this show. From Werchter: hardly. That one, even WE call it 'a village'...

Off course: if you arrange a pick-up upfront, that would be another thing. All taxi companies (& drivers) know Werchter festival ground. Just make sure you have a decent meeting point! (And my suggestion would definitely be to take it all the way down to Leuven city centre yourself. Travel to & from there, and use the shuttle busses to travel between Leuven & the festival ground.)

Make sure your taxi operates with a meter, or you have agreement upfront over a fixed price. Remember taxis in Belgium charge about 3 (before 10pm) to 7 euro (after 10pm) to start, and charge about 1,80 euro per kilometer.

Decent prices from Brussels city centre to Leuven city centre would be 60 euro (as stated earlier); about 40 euro from Leuven to Werchter (festival ground), I reckon.

Thanks for the advice on taxis - it's appreciated. If I'm able to make the show, I plan to use the shuttle bus to get back to Leuven and then a taxi from there to Brussels.

Now to see if it's possible for me to rearrange things so last minute! It's not looking that likely but it's worth seeing what I can do.

What's the weather like over their at the moment guys? Good outlook for the weekend?

Weather now is fine; up unytill this weekend... It's gonna be really rainy (85% chance for rain, throughout the day) - both saturday & sunday.

Make sure you pack some sort of plastic foil (to sit on) as well!
And don't forget to wear some decent shoes.

tioms - thank you. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I will be able to make Werchter. I've been spending time today trying to rearrange work and other stuff but it's all a bit too last minute!

Hopefully the taxi advice will be useful for others on here.

I hope the weather isn't too bad for those going! At least it won't be too hot!

Well, they do Pis anywhere.

It IS kind of a disappointment, this poster;
because 'Manneken Pis' (that sculpture) to us, Belgians, is in any possible way a symbol for Brussels - NOT for 'the nation' ( c.q. the people);
we don't identify with it...
And that makes this lay-out kinda stupid, because the concert is NOT (nowhere near - to Belgian standards of distance, anyway ) in Brussels.

Oh well... I hope a waffle design is on its way...
(Or better yet: some BEER!!)

I mailed Duvel a few months ago to come with a limited edition of Rolling Stones Duvel beer. "Sympathy for the Duvel" would have been too easy, still... But I like your idea of a Rolling Stones Beer poster. BV would've liked it as well I think

Thanks! This show is going to be a real pain. Why couldn't they have it closer to Brussels, where it's easier to get in & out? Sleeping in fields and railway stations is for the younger crowd, not old Stones' fans. I've got a 10:45 flight on Sunday. They should have added another train to Brussels when the 1st one filled up. I guess we'll rent a car. You'd think they'd have it reasonably well organized after having festivals out there for years. Whine, whine, whine.
