Does this mean Keith will have to sell Redlands? And what about Charlie? He gets to keep his horses, doesn't he? It's a Stoneconomical downturn. Bridges To Recession. A Bigger Bust.

The outdoor stage they were going to use in Adelaide will remain in Australia. The company that owns it keeps it in Australia permanently for use in festivals and concerts. The cost of shipping a stage that size back and forth to Europe or the US is very expensive so it just stays there in storage when not in use. The "Lips and Tongue" stage set is either being shipped by boat to Europe for use on the summer tour, or was sent via cargo plane with the rest of the tour equipment. Either way, it's no longer in Australia.

Yes. The concert promoters are hoping to reschedule the cancelled Australia and New Zealand shows for October or November. It's possible they may add a few extra dates while they are down there. Keep checking here on IORR for updates.

The promoters have said they are trying to reschedule the cancelled Australian dates for October or November, but there is no guarantee it will happen then. If they can't work out all the logistics they may have to wait until early 2015.

Obviously the whole thing will have to be fitted in around the dates already announced for the European tour - ie Late May to Early July.

Who knows if there's a USA leg to fit in somewhere.

As far as Australia/NZ are concerned the general view appears to be that they cannot re-schedule until after the AFL season which ends in September (I think!).

But, in my view, that's a factor that's vastly inflated.

The only overlap is the Adelaide Oval, and by all accounts they have lost the imperative (ie $450,000) to play there. None of the other Australian venues are AFL grounds.

Personally I'm reconciled to Hanging Rock being cancelled and perhaps replaced by a second date in Melbourne. But time will tell.

Is it feasibile that the Stones hit Australia and do the arena shows this year, then return in 2015 for the one off Adelaide mega show, and maybe one more at MCG in Melbourne in place of Hanging Rock?

Maybe they do it all in one run in the fall

6xAustralia
1xNew Zealand
7xAmerica (South + North)

Very good idea... thumbs up
They could ship the stage well in advance, play the Aussie shows, ship the stage to SA, take a few days off (Tahiti yum!) then fly to SA for the 1st show of the tour.
That would keep fixed costs to the lowest possible level.

Didn't Keith already sell Readlands?

No. Keith still owns his Redlands house. Last year there was a news article in the about how he had contributed to the preservation of a nature preserve in the vicinity of his home. He has also donated money towards the preservation of a historic building in the local village.

I think Adelaide Oval IS an imperative to play. I have front row tkts and if I am to give those up and go in 'ticketek lucky dip' to another venue and end up in grandstands I won't be happy, or going! But that's just me....

When the stones are doing postponed dates, they always like to add some shows.
Just look at the Europe tour 2007 with 31 shows. winking smiley

What a charming babe Alexandra is.
And the irony is that the weather for Hanging Rock gig on Sunday is fine and warm!

At least I got to see Bobby on Wednesday night in Melb - great band and versions of the 6 Stones songs plus George Harrison's What is Life. Bobby seemed to be in pain and is looking old......

pool's in but the patio ain't dry

What is the honest assessment of the likelihood of Adelaide being declared too much effort, and extra Melbourne shows being added as may have been speculated?

This will be a really dirty low blow against us South Australians if it occurs.

Not everyone can get time off work or their kids from school - plus the expense of travel and accomodation. Not to mention those of us that were very lucky to get good Adelaide tickets being forced to refund and then miss out on decent interstate arena tickets.

They will very likely play in Adelaide when they return to Australia, however, it's possible there may be a change of venue if the Oval is not available then. The promoters would have to issue full refunds if they had to cancel Adelaide outright and they would very much like to avoid having to do that. It's also possible they will add shows in Sydney, Melbourne, and maybe even Canberra. Stay tuned here.
