Would have been a nice place to break from the "festival ready" 19 song setlist...unless I've missed this, no one's asked them about that yet?

Are you kidding me????
How many times are these guys going to surprise us?
They showed up to say "HI" to the outside simulcast crowd!

That fact has been slowly sinking in and I'm so @#$%& glad that this "Silver Train" that is THE ROLLING STONES just keeps rolling down the tracks.

Thanks for this great thread today everyone!

it was great i didn't get in but they set us up very nicely outside loads of people with a good feel to the scene, coolers of beer, fantastic sound system, three large screens…just a very good vibe…it clearly isn't the same as being inside but it was very fun..thanks guys

Full report tomorrow, but very intimate gig; band really enjoying themselves - and so were the audience. Ok so not an adventurous set list (for us anoraks) but great fun all the same - and played with a passion. What more can you ask

I want more from the audience! The rich just bore up the place. Give me a general admission crowd if you want to rock! Otherwise sit home and listen to your cds.

This show was ALL about the venue - my god it was a great place to see the Stones. After tuning in for these live feeds for the tour so far, I too was a bit jaded about the setlists. But being there in that room - so close - with my son along for his first ever concert - it was perfect. You wouldn't want any other songs. You want to see the greatest band in the world playing the greatest songs in the world. And they did - they played the crap out of them.

Security was SO lax - I was able to self upgrade with my son on my shoulders for satisfaction to the end of the catwalk stage. Waved at security as we strolled by.

Only criticism - what the hell happened to Mick on Sympathy? Did his in ear monitors fall out? It was woeful in the verses.

Setlist wasn't to die for,but I bet it was,as always, a great Rolling Stones show.
Lovely small venue with a low stage and catwalk.
What a nice unexpected gesture to come out to the crowd watching the outside screen 20 minutes before the show to say Hello. Good on 'em. >grinning smiley<

Mick was a semitone flat for the first part of SFTD. Looked like is ear monitor stopped working - needed to get the right tone by standing close to Chuck

Standart repertoire at that small venue ...
Could have been so interesting ...
I guess the rest will show up no surprises anymore.

I guess it was for those who actually were there...

So it is the smallest venue in this leg of tour, and the band on fire. Sounds promising. But of course, being not such an usual place for them, so they are not going to be too adventurous.

Some pre-gig set list speculation.

In Shanghai they varied five songs in their set list, which probably is the record during the recent tour (and I take that to include 50 AND COUNTING TOUR as well). Okay, Chineze authorities had a hand on that, but if we stick within the bounds of realism, today we will going to hear three or four variations, "Brown Sugar" and "Honky Tonk Women" making a come-back. The third new song will be from fan vote, and most likely it is "Let's Spend The Night Together". Like I was informed, the song had not yet been played at all, even though it was once a candidate in some fan vote during American tour. Personally I would like them to do "When The Whip Comes Down", since their reading of "Respectable" was surprisingly strong, but that doesn't sound very realistic. Off goes "Street Fighting Man", "All Down The Line" and "Dead Flowers" surely, replaced by those above-mentioned songs, and the vacancies of "Get Off of My Cloud" - the second song of the set - and "Ruby Tuesday" - the ballad of the set - are also those which might vary. The first one is seriously challanged by "You Got Me Rocking", which seemingly worked very well at least in Japan. "Ruby Tuesday" might be replaced by other classics, such as "Wild Horses", "Angie" or "Beast of Burden", but if they really go crazy, we might hear "Worried About You" or even "Streets of Love" or "Till The Next Goodbye".

So easy it is... winking smiley

Hmmm... somehow within the scope of my prediction - for which one really doesn't need to be any Einstein..grinning smiley

They actually turned to substitute six songs altogether... so I under-estimated that. "Honky Tonk" and "Brown Sugar" naturally took their proper places. "You Got Me Rocking" and "Before They Make Me Run" as well making a come-back after one gig's exile. "Ruby Tuesday" was replaced by "Wild Horses", and the fan vote went, surprisingly, to "Live With Me".

So there were, without Chinese authorities' intervention, variance in four songs, which I think it is rather big amount, I guess above typical.thumbs up

But as the reports start to show, what is important is what the band did with those wonderful tunes... a hot night by many accounts, right?!

Nice of them to visit the "second audience" before. Charlie so typically looks like he would rather be somewhere else there in the background and can't decide whether he should really wave or not better just stretch his arm and twitch his ear. Anything but talk. He is adorable! grinning smiley I sometimes wonder, how much he is still really that shy infront of an audience and how much is his roll within the band. But I don't at all get the impression he is into acting something, so he is probably actually like that.

The guy coming on stage before the Stones: Is HE the one who announces them every night since 2012? His voice seems very similar to what I heard on several bootlegs. (I mean that single sentence "Ladies and Gentlemen, will you please welcome the Rolling Stones" )
