Wow! Never seen before. The Glimmer Twins shine bright, Keith defining the look of a Gypsy rock star. That's from 1970 European tour, right?

Great footage - thanks for posting.

Because we've been so used to the 'corporate' Rolling Stones for so many years it's actually hard to remember sometimes that the Stones were actually a proper band on and off the stage.

This is not criticism, just fact: There is a time in any artist's or band's life when it or they are living the music life, when everything else is extraneous, when time in the studio is an extension of that life and not simply work. But you cannot keep that up forever and if you try you become something other than a vital creative force. For me GHS and IORR felt like albums that were made while the band was on a treadmill, afraid to get off lest the whole thing falls apart (which it eventually did). And after that it became something else. SG was an inspired bit of fluff, but little else of the later years holds my interest. This video shows that earlier age when it gave me a thrill (it still does) to watch Taylor and Keith walk to the stage holding their guitars.

I have said before, SG is a fun record. I enjoyed it when it came out. It is easily accessible and feels like an inspired work. It has not aged well to the extent I rarely feel like hearing it again. I do not find it musically significant or particularly interesting. It does not take much "to get it."

SG doesn't take anything "to get it". Quite some people don't like Goats Head Soup, but at least it does take anything to get its mood.

you have to call it awesome or you don't get it.

(seriously, I know what you mean, and that you are not slagging the album).

Everything has its time. To everything there is a season; a time for every purpose under heaven. Not to get too biblical here - but maybe that saying goes for rock bands as well?

Aquamarine, there is no sound.

But, what a cool piece of film! At first, for a split second, with his head down and in that outfit, I thought Charlie was Mick. The angelic little tyke looks to be Marlon, but the blond lady he goes over to doesn't look like Anita. Anyone know who she is?

Thanks for posting, HBWriter.

That's Marlon and Anita (sitting behind Keith, whom Marlon runs to). That's what she looked like back then.

Thanks, Rockyfan. She does look a bit different there, so I couldn't be sure. Anita was such a beautiful woman back then.

It's not Anita or Marlon, it's Shirley Watts with Seraphina. smiling smiley

78 IMO as after that Mick had to leave during Keith's
set. That was the beginning of them not acting
as a truly integrated band anymore IMHO. They also
seemed to stop writing songs together with few exceptions
since Some Girls. VL they worked together a bit and
it was a better " modern" album.

In 1970 Marlon was not quite two years old and Seraphina was 3-4 with long blonde hair.
