Why don't they slip an unexpected song into the second part of the set for once!

Yes, absolutely, there should be one unexpected song in the end part of the set list.

Also they could play the songs in the set list in the opposite order for once, that would be fun!!!

and yes, unexpected song near the end would make me happy too. but I also like the hurricane that starts with the second half and keeps you on your toes till the end...you can hardly catch your breath in that phase...

Since no big surprises to be expected any longer, time to make some remarks of the set list in this tour.

The basic set is:

"Start Me Up"
"Jumping Jack Flash"
"It's Only ROck'n'Roll"
"Tumbling Dice"
"Doom & Gloom"
"Honky Tonk Women"
"Midnight Rambler"
"Paint It Black"
"Gimme Shelter"
"Sympathy For The Devil"
"Miss You"
"Brown Sugar"
"You Can't Always Get What You Want"
"Satisfaction"
"Slipping Away"
"Before They Make Me Run"

So, that's 16 out of 19 songs that they play each gig. So everything concerning hopes and disappointments of us set list stalkers behind our computers, is about those three 'extra' songs. Tonight we got "You Got Me Rocking", "Ruby Tuesday" and "Respectable".

Honestly, if any realism is used, one cannot get very excited or be very disappointed. It is rather marginal thing we are here worried about... It is those three songs which make the set list "great" or "boring"....grinning smiley

So true! Live updates on a forum are not the live performance at the venue.

I think the set lists are great, YGMR aside, there's no duds.
They should keep all the war horses as its probably the last run around and these are classic iconic and amazing songs. Most people would be very upset if they left them out.

HOWEVER, they could make the sets 2-4 songs longer and throw in a few more gems (ESP Can't you hear me knocking with Taylor, and some semi regulsr changes of more known songs like Bitch, Beast of Burden or Dead Flowers). That would keep everyone happy. I don't know why the sets have gotten shorter since the USA tour a year ago. When I paid top dollar for 5 shows here in Australia I was expecting something similar, but it seems we will be getting shorter shows with fewer surprises. It has taken some of the excitement off for me.

the variety of a set lists is minimized once they start to play less songs. With the Option along the US Tour we had 21-23 songs and therefore more surprises each night.
Getting back on the routine of 19.20 songs we cannot expect surprises as for most of the poeple it's a one night one go thing to hear the greatest hits.
