"What does Keith think of Mick's guitars, like the Tom Anderson(s) Mick bought for the 1989 tour.
Has he ever tried them?"

He used one on BOB on the Vodoo Tour and on Monkey Man during the Licks Tour.

Any truth to the rumors of people playing under the stage?

Having worked for the Stones on past tours I can answer this question myself.
No...there is nobody else playing under the stage, or behind the stage!

No one playing on the stage either, it's all tapes, even the mistakes are pre - mixed in.....................>grinning smiley<

Really?

Really.......seriously though, these days, who knows what's what? I just got a boot DVd of LA 20th May last year.
At the beginning of Midnight Rambler, Mick is close up by Mick Taylor playing the intro on the harmonica, Mick T is responding, then Mick Jagger walks away across the stage, lowers the harmonica down to his left side but the music carries on,,,,,,,,,,as though he is still playing...maybe the botlegger dubbed the wrong sountrack on the video?
I heard the other day that the beginning of Sympathy is a loop tape, that was really apparent at Glastonbury, full sound for the intro but no one playing anything....so, yeah, who knows what's live and what's tape?........

The only pre-recorded tracks they use in the shows these days are the percussion loops on SFTD. Everything else is live. Charlie does not usually use a click track except for Sympathy. Chuck counts off the tempos which he gets from a metronome in his earpiece or on his keyboard.

I'd like to believe that my favourite band are not cheating but the thing with the harmonica at the intro for Midnight Rambler was a bit disconcerting, no pun intended..

Just bad syncing. Of course Mick's harp is live. It's never quite the same...

No, it was more than that...the first bit was well synced and looked real enough but then it went on for 30/40 seconds when Mick was holding it down by his side. I've seeen badly synced shows and this wasn't just that.
I haven't watched the whole show yet so it'll be interesting to see what's what with it right through............

That doesn't make any sense. If Mick was not able to play harmonica on that night for whatever reason they would not have put Midnight Rambler in the set. Period. We all know he can play so there is no reason for them to do that. And even if they were to ever lip-sync you can be sure Mick wouldn't be so sloppy as to have the harmonica or microphone down at his side while the track played on. Post the video in question here and let us decide.

Something is wrong with the video, and not with Mick's playing. That is a 100% sure.

I don't know how to post a bit of a whole show but if you want to check it out scroll down to MfG 76 ... [www.iorr.org] ...LA 20th May 2013..You'll have to d/l the whole thing though...
one mistake of mine, the playing isn't as long as 30/40 secs..(he held the harmonica down for that)..but about 5/6 secs unexplained playing so my bad on that, but still, unless they've got a guitar that sounds just like a harmonica something's up here......
It didn't/doesn't make sense to me either because not only because of the unlikeliness of it happening but because Falo who put this togethor is well respected for his productions (even his youtube compilations are a cut above).....

This is my first post.
Recently, I read an article Keith's original Zemaitis 'Macabre' still exists. Is it true?
If true, What is the condition of it?

Gear questions:

- Is everyone in the Stones camp now totally disenchanted with the Music Man Silhouettes and Kramer guitars used in the late eighties/early nineties? What's your opinion on them?

Kramer guitars? Did they ever use Kramers?

Was Keith's Epiphone Casino damaged when he was nearly electrocuted in Sacramento in 1965? I don't recall seeing it again after that incident. Thanks!

Great initiative, Mathijs

Q: Have Keith ever been approached by a manufacturer (Fender?) to have a signature guitar?

No doubt that a Keith Tele 5-string would be a big seller… I'll buy one for sure..

(Sorry if this is already a well-known fact on IORR).

Keith was approached at one point by Fender who wanted to issue a limited-edition copy of one of his famous vintage Telecasters through their Custom Shop. They built a few prototypes but before any were sold they had to stop production. Apparently, the Stones management objected on the grounds of copyright infringement, or perhaps they simply weren't able to work out a financial agreement. In any case only a few of these guitars were completed. They were called the "Fender Custom Shop K.R. Relic Telecaster" to avoid legal problems. You can read more about them here. [www.iorr.org]. Ronnie also has a signature model Telecaster-style guitar built by the Japanese company E.S.P.

Dude, I'm not asking you.

Pierre wasn't there, but the record in tandem with Keith's earlier quotes tell all that yah need to know.

The acoustic and cassette recorder were used just for basic track. Same as with SFM and PW. At some point his memories have just gotten wonky about it. He never used to say all the guitars were acoustic for JJF and for good reason.

He talks as if there's just two guitars on there now when there's atleast 4.

Mick did joke circa the release of the single that the whole thing had been done on a cassette recorder. Guess yah ought to take him literally as well. grinning smiley

Whatever happened to the Keith Richards model guitar designed by Ted Newman Jones? A blueprint of this was included in the book "The Rolling Stones": The First 20 years, by David Dalton...

Can anyone tell me which songs he used it for in Abu Dhabi & Tokyo 1?

I mean the 52 Tele without humbucker (not Micawber or Malcolm).

I know that, but don´t want to look through them all. I think he at least used it for YGMR in Abu Dhabi. Last time i saw it on stage was the last show at O2 2007 when Keith used it for SMU and CYHMK.

thanks for this great idea.

Ask him

wich pickups for Micawber/Sonny/Malcom/Dice/355

Wich Bridgeplate he use on the Teles they fits perfekt, many tele plates don` t fit, because of the holes in the string through

is it truth, that Ronnie and Keith only play over 1 amp and the other one is only for backup.

Is keith rack hidden under the stage, or it this smaller only 3 effekts + wireless (mxr analog delay TS9 Phaser 100 or Tremolo)

It is truth that Ronnie actually only play with "OCD Fullertone" in front of his fender vibro king?

It is truth that Keith use his Ts9 Drive on 11 o`Clock
thanks Mathijs
