The videos of "Satisfaction" show Keith trying out some new licks during the solos. He is smokin'.

were Mick and Keith actually standing next to each other during the initial bows? seeing Jagger, Keith, and MT all in a row during the bows just got me a little misty.

I wouldn't expect the Stones' first-ever performance in Arabia to have recondite songs. The set list was fine considering the context. I'm impressed enough Mick learned some Arabic. smiling smiley

He also learnt to say "No Sir, I didn't bang you sister" just in case...

It was always going to be a greatest hits show for UAE. I hope Taylor plays more as Keith is skipping so many notes that the songs are not remotely close
to sounding as they should. If you have MT, use him!! Also, this is another opener like Brooklyn which was not 100% sold out. Sad to see them open a tour
to less than full capacity.

Very emotional for Keith. A little bit of a downer for crowd as it slows the show to a halt, but Keith has earned that right.

Jagger: No
Keith: F*ck you, then i'll bring him out during my songs if I want to
Jagger: Fine

I think that's probably pretty close to the truth. Like Keith says, Mick likes to micromanage everything, Keith is open to anything. "He's the rock, I'm the roll".

A few FACTS. Mick didn't...doesn't..."like" to micromanage everything.

It fell to him by default circa 1970 after things got so messy with Allen Klein. No one else in the band wanted or was able to manage anything.
Jagger doesn't get a managerial commission.

This was the view from what usually is the best spot in the house. First row at the catwalk on Keith's side. I'm 1,78m tall (5'10" ). The catwalk was actually an elephant's walk. It was far too high, especially at the beginning where it was connected to the stage. From where we were standing we could never see Bernard and Chuck. Ronnie we saw once or twice when he came over and we saw Lisa when she did Gimme Shelter.

The catwalk should be much lower and there should be a few steps to climb down on it.

Terrible view. Stage too high. In the US pit, we could touch part of stage.

Two persons walking under the catwalk. You get a better image of how high that thing and the stage were.

Jagger sings very well and even went to the "high notes" like in the studio recording, when was the last time he did this, sometimes in the 70s maybe?

He did it on the MSG Four Flicks show in 2002 as well.

He sings very well here indeed. The band sounds great thumbs up

From what I read here it looks like this 'slipped' by most everyone... Keith has his pal Mick Taylor up for a play, and to sing along... Heartwarming indeed. Why don't we just let the boys play, and sit back and enjoy all they've done for us. Shall we? video: [youtu.be]

That is crazy !
We have front row tix for Adelaide which we paid $1500 each in a Diamond VIP package.
I've emailed the promoters here, plus tweeted the band and promoters and left FB messages with promoters inc the pics.

If we get that stupid huge stage here in Australia with crap view I will be demanding my money back.

Front row on the Bang tour in a stadium in Sydney was amazing. I'm not paying $3000 to look at a black wall, and a glimpse of my band.

Rolling Stones in Abu Dhabi

Yes, there were mistakes, negated notes and forgotten lyrics – Keith touchingly laughs at singing the line ‘am I losing my touch?’, after fluffing the line before – but The Stones’ were always lose and live, and all the more real and charming for it. It’s those uncharted moments – the ragged, raging outros of ‘Jack Flash’ and ‘Brown Sugar’, those chugging juggernauts of blissful improvised sound that threaten to fly off the rails at any moment, but skid into the station just behind schedule – when the band truly cooks. When it sounds, unmistakably, like The Rolling Stones.

This is always my response to folks who delight in pointing out the occasional missed cue or lyric.

A perfect band is a boring band.

Based on the videos they all seem to have great FUN onstage and also playing well, Keith seems to be relaxed but still quite focused on playing, of course there are some charming little mistakes but still it feels like Keith's timing and playing rhythm is great in general. And the overall feeling seems to be just very positive and Jagger is obviously enjoying performing. No any tension between Mick and Keith that I could see on the videos. I hope they will play more rarities but if they can keep up with this kind of spirit and quality I don't even mind the set list if and hopefully when they will play concerts in Europe. But really looking forward to seeing more clips from the future concerts...

This is one of the many reasons I hate stadium shows. The highest stage I recall was in St. Petersburg but this one in Abu Dhabi looks way worse and truly appalling. Was it the regular stage they use in there?
