OT: ACDC is back again.

Don't know if it's been posted before but ACDC will record a new album in May in Vancouver. Then, there'll be a world tour performing 40 shows in 40 cities celebrating threir 40th anniversary as a band.

It seems Brian has said so to Florida 98.7 The Gater Radio Station.

Translation from Spanish newspaper "El Mundo"

The lead singer of AC / DC Brian Johnson explained that the intention of the band is celebrating its 40th anniversary by offering 40 concerts in many cities around the globe, to "thank the 'fans' absolute loyalty" during this time.

Four years after his last tour six years after their last studio album ('Black Ice', 2008), AC / DC are ready to return to activity with new work and a world tour to celebrate their 40th anniversary as vocalist explained to Radio 98.7 the Gater Florida.

Specifically, Johnson announced that AC / DC will begin recording their new album from May in Vancouver, without specifying details as a hypothetical release date.

To be fair, everyone has been saying this, but they haven't really announced anything. They announced planning to maybe go into the studio soon, and hypothetically going out on tour. Hardly a full confirmation, and I say we're still a year away, at least, from this becoming a reality.

Having said that, I'm happy they're back. They still put on a great show, although like the Stones, and even moreso, they would benefit from really throwing in some deeper cuts into the setlist. Aside from adding in obligatory new material each tour, their setlists have largely been the same since about 1985.

I don't know if this is confirmation, but doesn't this point to an album being recorded in a few months?

If they do not play the same setlist and the same warhorses I will go. So no more Highway to Miss You, Thunder Sugar, Back in Black and Blue, or Black in pant it Black....

I heard they were going to record songs based on riffs.
Only a rumour of course.

I've seen them three times over about 25 years, and they basically played the same show, with the only differences being the opening, and 2 or 3 new songs. Everything else was the same - inflatable Rosie, big black bell, flames during "Highway" and those silly cannons. Oh yeah, it was also the best rhythm section in rock - just tight and locked in from start to finish. Damn, Malcolm. I'll go again.

they played a grand total of 20 different songs over the 170 shows of the Black Ice World Tour, 2008>2010.

ac/dc rarely changes there setlist during a tour. sorta like the stones rarely ever changed anything once a tour started until 1989

The last CD was boring - basically the same old thing for those 15 songs.

AC/DC recorded Razors Edge and Black Ice in Vancouver. Hopefully Vancouver is one of the 40 cities they play! If I recall, Black Ice sold 900k in the US in the first week.

Sounds like the Stones' 78 and 81 tours...

AC/DC saves me money.

As one of my top favorite all time bands, while I do catch them at least once per tour, I don't feel I have to see them multiple times during a tour because each show will be almost the same, if not exactly the same as the show before.

I still love them and look forward to their return.

I saw them with Bon Scott when I was in high school. Before Highway to Hell. They were third bill to Ted Nugent & Cheap Trick. Got booed because they were considered punk rock. I was so enthused the first night, I came back the 2nd night just to see AC/DC. Cheap Trick were pretty good, too. Saw them a lot during those years. We won't talk about the ten flying fingers of doom.

Always wished I liked these guys better. I just don't though even if they have a fantastic guitar player. Never could stand a schreeky singer and its the voices that have always ruined this band for me. Just like that Canadian band with the great drummer, the singer opens his mouth and I'm outa there. Don't know why it is but I just can't stand it. Kinda like a baby crying full tilt or a skillsaw in full flight certain pitches just get to me and AC/DC's singer's voice is one of them..

Love to go and see them, I saw them at a small venue in Northampton England early 70's then again at Reading Festival mid seventies. Can't remember what they played so would be happy to hear all their war horses as I am sure most people would. Who want to see them play lots of obscure album tracks (apart from die hard fans).

In Vancouver for sure, but in Little Mountain Studio.
Stiff upper lip and Black Ice were recorded in Warehouse Studio.

Blame the poor mastering... Just like Black Sabbath's '13'... Too much loudness kills any good album.
