Re: The Rolling Stones World Tour 2014 - dates and more

The Rolling Stones are deeply sorry and disappointed to announce the postponement of the rest of their 14 ON FIRE tour of Australia and New Zealand following the death of L’Wren Scott.

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood wish to thank all of their fans for their support at this difficult time and hope that they will fully understand the reason for this announcement.

The Rolling Stones are planning to reschedule these postponed shows at a later date.

The postponed shows are:

Perth Arena – 19 March - postponed
Adelaide Oval – 22 March - postponed
Sydney Allphones Arena – 25 March - postponed
Melbourne Rod Laver Arena – 28 March - postponed
Macedon Ranges Hanging Rock – 30 March - postponed
Brisbane Entertainment Centre – 2 April - postponed
Auckland Mt Smart Stadium – 5 April - postponed

Australia/New Zealand promoters ask ticket holders to please hold on to their tickets until further notice. A new schedule of dates is presently being worked on and will be advised as soon as possible. Information will be made available via rollingstones.com and frontiertouring.com as soon as available.

Really news but I think that is the best for Mick because shows are too close to that tearful happening.
I guess European shows will go on for sure, just thinking about when are they planning to announce the other dates. What do you guys think about it, this week, next one?

Tough call, with the tragic news and the tour in limbo it's hard to see any new announcements/sales happen right away...but how long can they wait before the promoters decide the turnaround time will be too short, especially with that huge guarantee they demand? I suppose the fact that the shows that went on sale sold out (festivals though) immediately might buy them a bit of time?

This really was the easiest way to do it. Gives Mick time to deal with the initial shock, and prepare for Europe. Australia and NZ will likely to added on if/when a South America tour is undertaken.

Will be interesting to see if the Europe dates continue to be officially unveiled over the next few days.

Could it be a case of this time next year for the OZ/NZ shows?

With the European tour booked and South America shows rumored for Fall, space is minimal in 2014. That's not a complaint, that's just an observation btw.

I don't think the promoters for italian and german shows will postpone their sales. Iz would be nice if they announce all dates this week, but without any hype and celebration.

I still got a feeling they will do the UK before South America. If they are done early July, take 6 weeks off, then 5-6 shows around the UK and maybe the Dublin show that is listed for Europe in June. If they want another London, Wembley will please a lot of people as a last stop. Just me 2 pence...
But if that was the plan we would probably had a rumour already.

Maybe the shows are postponed only about one month. And start in late April before the Europe tour is kicking off. If not, the "Fall Tour" of America will be replaced or gets added by Australia and New Zealand.

How do made up rumors serve to use up space in the year? Other than May-June, the year is open. Peoples fantasies about South America, Dublin, Ohio, wherever, don't count. Rescheduling dates for which millions and millions of dollars worth of tickets have already been sold would seem a priority, no?

I was asking a question, not putting down any facts about the tour dates. If contracts have been signed elsewhere (many people seem convinced about South America - me I don't have a clue) who knows what space is available? Let's wait and see what happends. I hope all oz/nz fans get to see the greatest rock and roll band of all time in the near future when mick and co are ready.

No, here [www.iorr.org].
And they have been listed at ticketmaster.de all day.

The OZ announcement was Frontiers first announcement that the rest of this leg is postponed. And that was after ticketmaster.de released the details about prices.
So of course there was no news about cancellations etc with the ticket prices.
That was my point.

Promoters do their business "as usual" until they get official information from RS management. May be the band hasn´t decided yet...
