1981 Tour

Curious--what do you hardcores feel are the best three shows of this tour? Thank you for your time.

Hampton
Candlestick Park
Cedar Falls

are all very good, but it's hard to say if they're the best. There are loads of soundboards (albeit a bit dry-sounding) from this tour.

Philly first show got a interesting setlist and the sound is great IMHO.

Cedar Falls I agree about, great show.

I would focus on the quality of the recording.

A terrible night under 81 standards, remains a terrific rock and roll experience!

I agree totally, although when songs fall completely apart (like on the Philly shows), it's a bit painful. Still a great rock'n'roll experience, though. smiling smiley

I love the 81 tour!!! There was virtually no variation in the set list and people don't really complain about that which on this board is surprising. The last time they really played new music on a tour. the play list had 13 songs from TY, ER and SG every night. The last tour as a real working band!!

I think it is superior to the first,,,these shows were like night and day,,,through the difference was not so big as it was on Largo shows,,,between 1st largo and ones after it....

hah also the newly discover st.paul soundboard 19.11.1981 gig was very sloppy and full of funny mistakes,,,so called "wobble" as wyman calls it was on danger zone,,same was in Louisville too,,i miss those days, they just let it burn never mind how rigth songs were played, full blast 2 hours.

I always send people away to listen to 'Let It Bleed'on Hampton and tell them to have the audacity to then say that Wyman isn't a superb bassist...they never do. Bill is on the ball from the off on that concert, he was on every concert.

The Dallas "RAIN SHOW". Great comments by Mick and the band is hot.

Frankfurt Festhalle, July 1, 1982

When the stadium tour entered the 13.500 capicity arena.
Tight sound.
Tight show.
And while singing along with Mick during "Miss you" standing in the 2nd row,
And at the point "people think I´m ....... crazy!!!!" I shouted "crazy!!" ab bit too early at him - he pointed his finger on me, saying: "Right you are guy: Crazy!".
Beeing a fan before I became a follower in this very moment.

It was 1982 in Europe, The Stones performed three times in Rotterdam Holland, I went to see two great Stones concerts, the Tour was organized by Bill Graham and the beautiful P.R Lady Alvenia Bridges.

My complaint is of same songs being played from tour to tour. I wouldn't mind a tour with pretty much the same set every night if they weren't playing all the same songs as the last tour. 40 Licks was the last time they didn't do that.

they played Down the Road Apiece in Buffalo and a couple of other early shows? I have it on a boot somehwere on my shelves.

Is aw them a month later in NYC, but they had dropped it by then. I wish they played it there; one of my favorite covers by the Stones.
