Great! I always thought a Beatles(-2) reunion could look something like this:

Paul's band with Ringo sitting in. The setlist should be:

1. Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Paul)>A Little Help From My Friends (Ringo)> Sgt Pepper Reprise (Paul)
2. Act Naturally (Ringo w/ Paul harmony)
3. Medley: Bathroom Window/Golden Slumbers (Paul)/Carry That Weigh (Paul & Ringo singing chorus)/You Never Give Me Your Money (Paul)/ The End (Paul & co. trading the guitar licks, Ringo reprises his drum solo with Abe helping out!)
4. Paul grabs an acoustic and does Her Majesty, and plays the missing last chord to symbolize the finalty of it all!

I would watch that a few times!

Stonehearted you might like From Abbey Road to Ziggy Stardust...

Not if it contradicts Emerick. grinning smiley

Actually, I'm very much looking forward to reading it, despite its "anti-Emerick bias".smiling smiley

I hope it will fill in details that Emerick's book wasn't able to touch on because he wasn't there, like the white album sessions. So thanks, whitem8, for the recommendation. I'd read somewhere that he might be putting a book together, but I didn't realize it was out.

Found this interview clip where he discusses the book. The clip was posted by the interviewer, JW Navarian of OnPurpose Magazine. The interview was done in the corporate offices of Alfred Music Publishers.

Apparently, Letterman's audience share wouldn't be large enough for the honor of spotlighting even a Fab 2 performance. After all, when you're doing something Beatle related, you may as well do it big.

Confirmed: Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Taylor Swift to Perform at Grammy Awards
By Billboard Staff | January 14, 2014 12:23 PM EST

A pair of Fab rock legends will perform at the 56th annual Grammy Awards. It was announced today that Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, who with the Beatles are this year's recipients of the Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award, will perform at the ceremony, set to take place live from Los Angeles' Staples Center on Jan. 26.

Full details at: [www.billboard.com]

However, it is still unconfirmed whether the two remaining Beatles will be performing together.

Remaining Beatles to perform at Grammy Awards

....Grammy bosses have confirmed the two legends will perform at the ceremony, but have stopped short of commenting on rumors suggesting the two old pals will reunite onstage for a song on music's big night.

Officials are merely stating, "Each will perform".

There will be a 'Beatles 50th Anniversary' concert in L.A. at the end of this month to coincide with the Grammys. Apart from Paul and Ringo, no word on who else will be playing in the band. Fab!

I understand that Paul and Ringo will be performing together......

is that Joe Walsh onstage with Ringo there? That guy's all over the place, I saw him in the Macca "Kisses from the Bottom" documentary as well.

Here's an interview with Geoff Emerick where he discusses his book. He answers to the criticism against George and backs it up, but also gives George his due.

I think his account as Beatles engineer is a valued part of history, particularly when discussing Ringo's efforts with the following image that really puts you there in the room with them: "When he [Ringo] used to leave in the evening, there was wood chips all over the carpet where he'd been through so many drum sticks..."

It was previously reported that the pair would appear together at this year's Grammy Awards in Los Angeles but, as Access Hollywood reports, drummer Starr has now revealed that he and McCartney will also perform for The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute To The Beatles.

reported by NME [www.nme.com]

The televised show will take place on January 27 – one day after this year's Grammys and exactly 50 years after The Beatles played on The Ed Sullivan Show in the US. Starr said: "To celebrate the 50 years since we landed in New York in February [1964], they are putting on a big show on Monday and we will be doing it there."

They landed in New York on Feb. 7 and appeared on Ed Sullivan on Feb. 9.

This is akin to a butler writing a book.. Not really cool....

That interview is a very different tone than what he takes in the book.

<<This is akin to a butler writing a book.. Not really cool....>>

So engineers and producers aren't aloud to have points of view and write books where particular elements of music history are involved?

I suppose that means Joe Boyd's book is "not really cool" as well....

A butler fa-frigsakes! confused smiley

I suppose that makes EMI Studios the mansion. But the Beatles couldn't have been the "masters" of the house because they didn't even own it.

Perhaps the co-writer made it so and/or the publishers suggested that a certain angle should be emphasised more.

Make it a bit more sensational to help sell it and get people talking about it.

Keith's interviews promoting Life had a different tone to Life as well.

Yes, which raises another set of suspicions about the book. This thread caused me to re-evaluate and re-read the book, and revisit initial discomfort I had with several of the sections, style, and observations the book made. Too bad he didn't have the ability to write it himself with his own voice and style.

Re; The Ken Scott 'From Abbey Road to Ziggy' book. I've read it - it's certainly well worth reading. No disputing the guy helped in creating MANY of the best albums ever. And he seems like a nice enough guy. The book does get a little technical here and there (probably a bonus for anyone interested in the real business of record making), and it runs a bit out of steam toward the end, but for any major Beatles, or Bowie fans (me) - it rewards.

Doom and Gloom lost to Grohl/McCartney.
Grohl said we wouldn't be here without Black Sabbath and The Stones.
McCartney said, right. I guess they were throwing a bone to the others.

Ringo performed alone at the Grammys.
A few of the rumors probably pumped up the numbers of people watching.

The Stones already won for another category. The boomer voters like for each of their old faves to win something.
