According to the description on this Flickr entry:
The Rolling Stones’ The European Tour, promoting the new album Between the Buttons and new singles Lets Spend the Night Together and Ruby Tuesday, commenced on the 25th March and concluded on the 17th April 1967. It was the last Rolling Stones tour to include Brian Jones, who initially formed and named the band, before his death in 1969. The tour was fraught with problems, from customs to personal conflicts, as well as many of the concerts descending into violent riots.
This photograph was taken at The Rolling Stones concert at the Hallenstadion in Zurich on the 14th April 1967 where such a riot took place. This was the first grand scale rock concert to be brought to Switzerland, promoted by the legendary Hans-Ruedi Jaggi, who later brought Jimi Hendrix and then Muhammad Ali to Zurich. The Stones concert is widely regarded as an important benchmark in Swiss youth underground culture in the 1960s.
Taken on stage after Jagger was hit by debris thrown at the band by wild fans, this image shows the rock star persona developing. Rushing to his aid, the men surrounding Jagger are all fixated on the singer, as he commands the focus of the image in his ruffled shirt and patterned jacket amongst the grey and black suits of the other men.
And here he is years later, controlling the cosmos xxoo
