Wasn't he supposed to open Hyde Park but got sick? I could be thinking of someone else.
Tom Odell got sick.
We were treated with an extra concert of the legendary Hudson Taylor.
Jake Bugg will go down in the books as a one hit wonder.
He just hasn't got the voice and delivery to keep it interesting.

During the long wait in the sun in Hyde Park , if I am not confusing things, I seem to remember that I was pleasantly surprised by the concert from the stand-in(s) to that act that had been hit by sickness. On which Saturday? Well functionning as a musically warm up act to me. "The legendary Hudson Taylor" you call him, BowieStone, I must admit that I have not got any knowledge.

We are being too harsh of course, he's a kid in a brutal industry getting caught up in the whole "authentic" marketing angle, but he might get better and wiser with age and so might Mr Styles.

His first album is very good, his second album is alright. I need to hear it some more, but its growing on me.
Listen: the kid is 19 years old. He got some good press last year and the business tried to gobble him up. He worked with Rick Rubin on his second album, who is known to try to give the artist their best. Doesn't seem like he's being too used in any way, and he's also not asking for this press. His music is different than most of the new stuff so they're singling him out. Also, I don't know exactly what he's said about some of the other people these days, but again, he's 19. You don't need to take it that seriously. If he is the same age as the one direction guy, compared to Harry Styles he seems like he's 30 while Harry is 15. He may not write his own songs, but I do believe he has a lot of input and serious musical potential that 1 Direction does not.
I'm not saying the guy is the next Dylan or anything. But he's good, and I have a lot of trouble finding music I actually really like these days. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and see where he goes. Could go nowhere, could be the next huge thing. Based on what I've heard, I'm rooting for him. What he does right now can't be the easiest, especially at that young of an age.
Excellent post...that's how I feel about it tooQuote

He's great, but especially on a Stones site does anyone else think he looks exactly like a young Keith?!
Keith circa 1965?

Nope. More like Jeff Beck in the 60s! ;-)

He's still a wannabe throwback, though.

To an extent. However, they didn't ape the imagery, haircuts and clothing fashions of those who were an influence. Bugg's channeling of the past is quite incomparable to Mick and Keith's admiration of Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson. Bugg is on the retro-wagon.

He wears indie type clothes mostly, hooded tops, modern " mad for it" jackets etc.

'Mad For It' See? He's channeling Oasis! No, you are right. He dresses in that stereotypical indie, high-street fashion. Pretty easy to pull-off.

"A wannabe throwback"? You mean, Mick Jagger didn't wannabe James Brown and Keith Richards didn't wannabe Chuck Berry?
When you're a young emerging artist, you have to throw yourself back a ways before you can pull your way forward.

The Mod movement in the 60's was all about being 'modern' and looking forward. There isn't an equivalent, now.

It was all about American music and Italian designer gear.
