Pay in blood-Hand of fate

I've been listening lately the song "Pay in blood" from the last Dylan album, Tempest, and it has a similar melody to Hand of fate...or maybe it's just my imagination

there are guitars and there are drums – not much more similarity

you are not the first to point out how Stonesy Pay In Blood sounds. Closer to a Some Girls era sound with the pedal steel

Sorry to the diehards but Dylan shows sure do suck these days. Been twice and disappointed twice. I think Bob Dylan is one of the finest most talented and inspired singer/songwriters of all time. And he's had more moments of genius musically than any other musician I can imagine. For way too long though his live shows have been less than steller and I've come away terribly dissapointed both times I've seen the man live. Great fantastic band but Bob himself seem's uninterested and bored and seem's not to give a shit about his audiance. He didn't even play guitar the last time I saw him and what's a B. Dylan show without him playing atleast one tune with guitar and harmonica? Could be physical problems keeping him from playing guitar I quess I don't know?

He has problems with his back. About HOF and PIB: The studio version has stoney guitar riffs, but the rhythm section's playing is different. I admire Recile and Garnier, but their groove is different from Watts and Wyman.

I don't hear the similarity at all

"Well my heavy throbbers itchin' just to lay a solid rhythm down"

Stones-ey perhaps, but no similarity at all in the melody, not that there is a melody in the Bob Dylan song, whereas there is in HOF. If you can see them as similar, then my hydroponic grow tank is not working!

Hand of Fate:

AGFC twice

C F C F C
The hand of fate is on me now
A G F C
It pick me up and knock me down
F C F C
I'm on the run, I'm prison bound
A G F C
The hand of fate is heavy now
F C F C
I killed a man, I'm highway bound
A G F C
The wheel of fortune keeps turning round
F C F C
Turning round, turning round
A G C G
I should have known it was a one horse town

F C F C
My sweet girl was once his wife
A G F C
He had papers that the judge had signed
F C F C
The wind blew hard, it was stormy night
A G F C
He shot me once, but I shot him twice
C F C F C
The hand of fate is on me now
A G F C

Pay in Blood:

C F F C
Well I'm grinding my life out, steady and sure
C F F C
Nothing more wretched than what I must endure
C F F C
I'm drenched in the light that shines from the sun
C F F C
I could stone you to death for the wrongs that you done
Am Dm Am
Sooner or later you make a mistake,
Am Dm Am
I'll put you in a chain that you never will break
C F F C
Legs and arms and body and bone
C F F C
I pay in blood, but not my own.

I hear it but I think it's more down to the use of sus chords. I mean it could be Springsteen too. The riff is not very unique it's more of a typical "follow the singer" riff.
(yes the video is not the official video but a tribute/fun video by a guy who posted it on vimeo. Thank you Derek. M.)

My though too when I Heard it september 2012 first time but yeah, it's all down to the sus chords and the arrangement, the middle 8s are quite similar too. The both tunes are built the same way.

"Blood on my Hands" should maybe be the right title then.

That's funny. I realized the same thing listening to it just last week. Great songs, both of them.
