Talk about star studded. McCartney during Jimmy Fallon's monologue & not doing "Wonderful Xmas Time". Yay! The Barry Gibb show with guest spots by Madonna & Barry Gibb! It is good to see him out. The man has had a rough go in recent years. Justin Timberlake was pretty good too. Especially the second song. Love the "Waking Up with Kimye" skit. Hasn't gotten old yet.

The SNL Xmas special was very good, was especially pleased to see Barry Gib show up. Didn't like Justins songs too much but the comedy skits were almost all spot on.

i agree with this statement about why this year is so much better than the last few seasons

Star-studded seems to be the only thing SNL knows how to do these days. It's gotten to the point you can almost see the writer's meetings where they can't think of anything funny so they decide to just parade in a long line of celebrities for recognition applause. I had my hopes raised earlier this season because there were some very promising episodes with some hilarious sketches, but then they went back to their old stand-by of rolling out anybody and everybody they can find just for the hell of it. Earlier this season I was laughing harder at SNL than I had in a LONG time, but they seem to have settled back down into a rut. I never stop watching though because even the worst episode can have a gem of a sketch hidden away in it.

I agree with what you guys were saying about this new cast showing a lot of potential, so they should use them more and not rely on the likes of Madonna (who isn't even remotely funny) to beef up a skit. SNL needs to get back to writing jokes and stop trying to impress us with how many celebrities they can round up.

It all goes back to Lorne's frustration about almost having Lennon and McCartney show up together on April 24, 1976. Since that's no longer possible, he now spends all his time having various groupings of his famous friends show up unannounced, stand side-by-side onstage, and .... do not much of anything while the crowd goes crazy. What's really infuriating is when two or three former cast members show up and the studio audience acts like it's the Beatles getting back together or something. Who cares? They're just comedians, for christ's sake!

Thought it was a pretty good show last night. Don't like Timberlake's music but he is a pretty funny guy. Looking forward to Fallon replacing Leno on the Tonight Show as well as well as Seth Meyers taking over Fallon's spot on Late Night.
I liked the song where all the women sing about bringing their boyfriends home for Christmas.
