Let's hope he plays some lesser known songs like Dealer, Giving To You, Berkshire Poppies and Vagabond Virgin.

Dave Mason is one of rock's most underrated performers-- his work with Traffic was terrific and afterwards he played with Delaney & Bonnie and a large number of tracks on George Harrisons 'All Things Must Pass''--
his 1st solo album 'Alone Together" is a classic, and indeed had a string of strong albums thru the mid 70's....exceptional guitarist !
And, he's on Beggars Banquet too !

And, I forgot, Hendrix's Electric Ladyland-- he's the opening acoustic guitar on 'All Along the Watchtower"

An unlikely pairing if ever there was one, but I always liked this.

I always liked this song by Dave Mason.

For me he's as much the voice of Traffic as Steve Winwood. Pity Winwood has sometimes chose to shit on or ignore Dave's place and importance in Traffic, he ought to be a bit more respectful because Dave's songs as hit singles helped make the band.

Who played lead guitar on the Dear Mr. Fantasy songs loaded up above? Mannerisms and style of playing looks like an older version of the new lead guitarist from the Black Crowes.

I'm embarrassed to say that I thought Dave had died. Good thing to be wrong about!

Are there more dates to be announced? I mean why is it called "World tour" when all dates are in the US?

Tour resumes this week, with dates booked through Feb. 2015. I missed this tour the first time it came near me last winter, but I am going to catch him next weekend in Ann Arbor. Anyone else see him or going to see him on this tour?

On his facebook page, Dave recently asked his fans what they thought of the idea of him doing a tour where he plays Alone Together and Headkeeper in their entirety, so that's probably what's next.

Great setlist, now if he would only add "Crying To Be Heard", in addition to the current list, that would be worth traveling a little distance to see.

Was Dave even on the Low Spark album?

Nope. His only possible connection to that material is that he did play a few shows with Traffic in 1971, the year Low Spark was released. He is on Welcome To The Canteen, Traffic's 1971 live album.

On Traffic's first album Mason is only credited as playing acoustic guitar. This is long been a question of mine. Why was his role so limited. Winwood was already a star but through out his career he's worked with other guitarists. Mason did some excellent stuff afterwards, yet I see him playing Low Sparks as a little bizarre.

Bizarre and maybe a little bit desperate. He'd probably be calling it Dave Mason's Traffic, or Traffic Featuring Dave Mason, if he could. Actually, I thought Dave and Steve had sort of a gentleman's agreement never to tour under the name Traffic if Jim Capaldi wasn't involved, which, obviously, he can never be, but as a fan of Dave, Steve, and Traffic, I'm really looking forward to this. I never saw Traffic. This is as close as I'll ever get.

Not sure if I "get" this version of "Sparks".. I saw the Traffic reunion a decade or so ago. No Chris Wood of course but the sloppy 70's groves were unforgettable.
Chris Wood to me is like Brian Jones to many here. He was what made Traffic unique, a true pioneer. Few musicians picked up the gauntlet he threw down, multi effects on the sax and flute, voicings he employed were a work of art. A most beautiful soul.

I saw Dave solo back in the 90's @ the Birchmere in Washington, DC. A good show back then. I would see him again if I get the chance. Really like the new set list that was posted above.

If my memory serves me well, wasn't Dave Mason supposed to be the 2nd guitarist in Clapton's Derek & the Dominoes? I know Dave played some of the Dominoes early shows in the UK before the Dominoes ever played in the US.
