Travel advice for those with little spare time. There are flights from central Europe or London that arrive in AUH around 7:00 on the morning of 21 Feb. You can spend the day in Abu Dhabi, go to see the concert in the evening and after that go back to the airport as flights back to Europe are around 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning. So you could do the whole thing without checking in to a hotel. People have already told me I'm nuts, when I presented them this idea. But I don't care.

You totally right, I wanted to do the same. But I'm anxious and I was scared to have problems of flight, so I took a flight one day before. But I'm still living just after the show.

I also think if there's Problems with the flight, you'll maybe dont make it to the Show and the Ticket is gone...
Actually no Problem to arrive one day in advance. The Hotel-Prices are not very high!

The Ticket Sale in Abu Dhabi seems to be very, very slowly.
There are still pit tickets for sale...

Which airport are most planning on flying into for this show?

I start from Munich to Abu Dhabi, the flight is about 5:30 hour.

Hotels are a lot there and the price is ok.

I fly via Vienna to Dubai - flight is cheaper then my early entry pit ticket ...
Go directly from the airport to the Santana show on thursday and with the bus to the Stones on friday. A Desert - Rock - Weekend !!!!

Going there too, fire pit....can't wait...already in 2 months.....

I'm staying on the island, not downtown.

Downtown is far, a bit cheaper, but seems boring. I have been two times in Dubai, and the "old town"/ downtown is made of dusty building of the eighties. The modern town is more fun, zillions of expensive gadgets to see, and the state-of-the art of the skyscrapers. Abu Dhabi seems in the same pattern. Yas Island is the pleasure dome.

Is there any advice of people living in Abu Dhabi about hotelchoice (city or yas island). And how can i spend my time best before the concert (thursday and friday)?
And how is it possible that there are still a lot of tickets (and "firepit" tickets) available? Is it because of the high ticketprices, no interest of the locals, not enough people in the surrounding area. As it seems it will be quite quiet at this concert. Any thoughts?

THere is quite a lot to do other than shopping. The Gold Souk and other markets are interesting. Take a ride out into the desert, do some sand surfing, ride a camel, or have dinner under the stars. If you have time, spend the night in a tent out in the desert...absolutely amazing to lay under the stars in the middle of nowhere. There is also plenty of water activities to take part in. All depends on how much time you'll have there before heading off to Japan

My mate who lives there will keep an ear out for any surprise gigs, etc. Anyway, hope to see plenty of Shidoobs there! We should have a get-to-gether prior to the show...

I'm arriving Thursday evening 20.35 and staying at the Premier Inn at the airport (walking distance) for 3 nights....they have a shuttle into the Old Town and Yas Island, very cheap (£40 a night). Getting the 02.45 flight back to London on the 24th so no need for a room on the Sunday night. For $45 you can use the Al Reem lounge in T1 for 4 hours. Fire pit ticket in hand, everything booked and ready to go ! See you there !!

Has anyone been to a concert of this dimension before on Yas Island? How is the taxi situation after the concert? Have to get to the airport right after the gig.
