seems silly to just play in a tent for 200 press people, so what i mean is
will they be out on the street like u2 so we can follow them, or will they
just have the exclusive access people watching them play, i want to go
but not for nothing

I'd say go check it out. If you don't get to see anything, maybe you will hear them perform? Who knows.

I'd go for sure if I was in NY. Just to hear one chord 'live' from Keith or Ronnie would make it worth it.

It is indoor. I would not expect a real exciting show. They might play a few chords of course. Don't have big expectations. Try to find a TV station that is serious about the Stones. This is an event where there are lots of local venues around in US and Canada broadcasting live from the press conference. It is about making an interest and awareness of the shows and ticket sales, ahead of ticket sales that starts Saturday. Not really for making a real performance. But by all means. Go there. Nothing to loose!

Obviously, its a long shot that you'll SEE them perform (unless they do something outdoors), but you never know and the sheer buzz around the whole event would be worth it for me

I watched the last two press conferences live on TV from 3,000 miles away and even doing THAT provoked a lump-in-the-throat, punch-your-fist-in-the-air reaction at the excitement and anticipation of a new Stones tour.

Get yourself up to Manhattan and enjoy the occasion. You might never see another one.

If theres the tiniest, tiniest truth in these shidobee-talk, I could sell my right arm for being there... But performing from a balcony; that´s a little too similar to the roof-gig the Beatles did before quitting, that´s somewhat alarming. I still think that it would be easy for them to come down Broadway and pull up in front of the stairs leading to the courtyard and fountain. I have friends that are local one stagehands at the MET opera and they knew nothing about the event, which seems unlikely. Anything that involves a light or a microphone that happens on those grounds falls under this organizations domain, and that is non-negotiable for any event.

I'll keep checking my sources. For a while, I thought they might perform at the bandshell right behind they tent they've erected for press. I hope this doesn't happen because there is no way to get behind the tent without presenting credentials and no way to see, except through some hedges by the sidewalk on the south western side of the grounds. There was feeder cable coiled near here so presumably a generator will be set up to supply power to the tent sometime tomorrow.

My instincts suggest that MSNBC will have coverage...Keith Oberkfell's "Countdown" may be a good bet as well as Anderson Cooper "360" on CNN. If that's not the case then we may have to rely on the internet ..such as Drudge report or any other link oriented media ....this is gettin' good ..

I'm speaking of standard American cable network news shows,,,,however, cnn.com and msnbc.com are decent with translating the featured tv reports into their website presentations. Let's just hope we don't get screwed on this deal!
