I don't remember seeing this (strange, to say the least) ad before. It was published on Billboard magazine, August 16, 1975.

The background vocals of this classic are hard to sing along with bahp-bahp-bahp great cadence hard to figure out. Great , great song if not one of their best.

Strange ad from Abkco for a classic Stones track …
But it's gotta be the long version in MONO though …
Mick's gentle stab put-down must bite deep for many who hear it … LD

Out Of Time is one of the Stones' greatest songs. Americans, unfortunately, were cheated out of this song and a much shorter and inferior version was released a year later. The Chris Farlowe version was a UK no.1, the only Stones cover to reach the top as far as I know.

OK Thanks - I prefer the Flowers version but the Flowers album itself may be influencing opinion. Sometimes I like shorter versions - sometimes unanswered questions are best left alone.

Any love for "Out of Time"?

I'm wondering why the Stones have never played this great song live. It's been featured in many movies; covered by Chris Farlow, The Bee Gees, Joe Strummer and others. For me it's one of top tier songs from Aftermath and always liked it especially since it was featured in the opening credits of the Vietnam film - "Coming Home".

At least the Bee Gees played it live LOL

I like the original version.

(Edit: by that I mean not the one on metamorphosis...even if that one was recorded first...not familiar with exact timeline)

I also like Sad Day.

actually I like pretty much anything from this period. It was a tuff period for them but they came through it.

The Metamorphosis version is used well in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

I remember telling a girl "If you like Under my Thumb, you need to listen to this as well" It absolutely did not land with her. I was so focused on the sounds it made me oblivious to the sentiment of the song.

For me there was really only one version, the long one. Didn't they just chop it up for USA release, on Flowers or somewhere? It made the UK Aftermath something special vs the USA release.

But if we start talking about Aftermath, we have to start talking about Flight 505. Now there is a killer.

I’ve never understood why they ignore the 60s,for the most part, before 68.of course you get Paint it black, and the odd Ruby Tuesday, and of course satisfaction but you could make a great set list from the must do cuts added to the early work.
Does anyone really think those generic RAWK albums like Bigger Bang and Voodoo could come close to Aftermath or Decembers Children ?
The old guys sound like the amateurs and the punks sound like the seasoned pros.

Marianne said in her biography that the song was about Chrissie and was very bitchy about it. Chrissie had a very put together look and it took her ages to get ready. The times very charging as people enjoyed a casual series of sexual affairs, going from one partner to the next.Poor Chrssie was out of time.....Miaow!

I'm with you - I fully understand they may not make as much money playing the 60 vs 70s+ songs but it crazy how little some of their greatest songs are played. "Heart of Stone", "Lady Jane" etc.. It's been over 50 years since it's original release and "She's a Rainbow" made it's first official live release last year! They have played it a few times going back to '97 but it's a pretty well known song and it took 52 years to get a live release and they have like what 40 live albums? LOL. I thought opening with "I Wanna Be Your Man" at the O2 show in 2012 was awesome and I think they never did it again. I guess they didn't feel too comfortable opening a Stones show with a Beatles song LOL

Good song. But I can't imagine they play this a stadium with 95% hits and standards.

Probably the pick of their "pop songs" .

Not everybody's idea of what the Stones are...but just shows how versatile they've always been.
