which brings up another problem: the blu-ray is audio mixes...of course not the to-come film, which is what I initially thought this release was more connected to. Which makes me wonder if that is going to be released in multiple versions with more audio as well as video. Like a one-two punch of Letting It Be.

It will be interesting to hear what Giles Martin will do with the Spectorized version they began with.

The Breakfast with The Beatles radio show [www.955klos.com] is paying tribute to Charlie with a "Beatles vs. Stones" radio show, where they alternate playing cuts by the two bands.

This puts stones vs beatles in perspective a bit.
Stones coming up on 60 years, while the Beatles played their last concert 55 years ago today.


55 years ago today, The Beatles perform their last official concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, California. The last number they play is Little Richard's "Long Tall Sally".

Ringo seems to be in excellent shape for 80+. Seems like a really nice guy & beyond cool.

Ringo also did an interview on Rick Rubin's podcast which occurred on the day Charlie passed away. [brokenrecordpodcast.com] (also on Spotify, and wherever you listen to podcasts). At the beginning Ringo talks a bit about Charlie and also at the 39 minute mark he tells an amusing story involving him and Charlie and John Bonham. The entire interview is very good! Lots of interesting tidbits.

Very nice interview. I'm also a big fan of the EP. Have many in my collection. Really like the 50's and 60's releases. Thick covers in the U.S. and laminated in Europe same as the LPs.

When I started to listen and to read about the Beatles' history, I was amazed to know that a brazilian girl was invited to sing with them, and that made a lot of brazilian fans very proud, as there's not many people who recorded with the Beatles when they were still a band.

Apart from her Beatles recording (and that per se is truly remarkable) she also sang with many top brazilian artists when she returned to Brazil in 1969.

A Stones-related fact: in 1967, a guy named Stuart Kendall got to interview John Lennon at his house in Cavendish Avenue. Mick Jagger was there, and this photo was taken using Lizzie's camera (she was waiting outside John's house), as Stuart didn't bring his own camera.



That photo and many others taken by Lizzie during the time she spent in London (1967-1969) were published in a very beautiful book with Lizzie's detailed account and memories of those days,

RIP Lizzie.

I gotta say, both the Get Back book and the vinyl Let It Be (5LP and 100 page hardback book) are beautifully packaged and presented. Fantastic production and quality. My weekend reading and listening is sorted!

Paul McCartney: John Lennon responsible for Beatle breakup

LONDON (AP) — Paul McCartney has revisited the breakup of The Beatles, flatly disputing the suggestion that he was responsible for the group’s demise.

Speaking on an episode of BBC Radio 4’s “This Cultural Life” that is scheduled to air on Oct. 23, McCartney said it was John Lennon who wanted to disband The Beatles.

“I didn’t instigate the split,” McCartney said. “That was our Johnny.”

The band’s fans have long debated who was responsible for the breakup, with many blaming McCartney. But McCartney said Lennon’s desire to “break lose? was the main driver behind the split.

Confusion about the breakup was allowed to fester because their manager asked the band members to keep quiet until he concluded a number of business deals, McCartney said.

The interview comes ahead Peter Jackson’s six-hour documentary chronicling the final months of the band. “The Beatles: Get Back,” set for release in November on Disney, is certain to revisit the breakup of the legendary band. McCartney’s comments were first reported by The Observer.

When asked by interviewer John Wilson about the decision to strike out on his own, McCartney retorted: “Stop right there. I am not the person who instigated the split. Oh no, no, no. John walked into a room one day and said, ‘I am leaving The Beatles.’ Is that instigating the split, or not?”

McCartney expressed sadness over the breakup, saying the group was still making “pretty good stuff.”

“This was my band, this was my job, this was my life. So I wanted it to continue,” McCartney said.
