Agreed but I still think the actual game would have been more fun if more people participated..Knowing your considerable skills at solving Stones puzzles I bet you would have been one of them! smiling smiley

Ok listened to the track twice. The song has a decent reggae groove with elements of Mexican music with those horn lines. The singing is good for Keith. A bit abrupt breakdown in the middle. Overall a nice little ditty but not one I'm likely to be putting on a playlist or excitedly sharing with my friends. I'm getting the feeling this record is best taken as a whole, when one is in the mood for a dose of Keith.

Lol. could it be that Reggae isn't your forte?grinning smiley

Listen darling

Now who's gonna hold and squeeze me tight
Now that she's gone out of my life
Who's gonna make me feel the way she used to do
Now that my love is overdue
Now that my love is overdue

Well, I'm all alone in the wilderness
Searching to find some peace and rest
She wasn't the best girl
But she brought happiness into my life
And now I'm a prisoner of loneliness
Now I'm a prisoner of loneliness

That's what I am

Listen darling

Whose voice is gonna say goodnight
Now that she's gone out of my sight
Who's gonna tell me lies and let me think they're true
Now that my love is overdue
Now that my love is overdue
Now that my love is overdue

I dont know just what to do for the best
Stop making me blue

[Some Keith growling]...

Now I'm a prisoner
Stop it, baby
Stop it

Naw I like plenty of reggae and adore all of Bob Marley's stuff. Still think the breakdown is abrupt, a bit unmusical for my tastes, but to each their own. I think lots of people tend to listen to Keith with their rose colored ear buds on, as a pure reggae tune this song doesn't really stand up to the best of that genre, imo. But hey I'm glad lots of folks are really digging it. Can't please everyone, just expressing my honest opinion, however unpopular that may be on this site.

Naturalist I was with you 100% On this track - sounded like very so-so reggae
Until the break!
I think the break is what makes the song special.
Probably still the weakest track I've heard so far but enjoyable nonetheless
This will be a great album and....
I love how he is releasing one song at a time, great strategy for making sure people really listen to the songs!

Robbed blind is probably my favorite so far

Yeah, thanks Turner, I've listened about 5 times now, and am warming to the break a bit. But if people want to use this track to judge the reggae genre in any way I can only suggest they go put on a Bob Marley record, Survival perhaps, and then revisit this Keith tune with a bit of proper reggae perspective. lol

Let me guess - 7 Broadwick Street was once the pub in whose upstairs room Keith went for his audition for Brian's new band, and found Stu playing boogie-woogie while watching the Soho girls pass by?

Love Overdue needs a few more listens before I know whether it's passed its audition. So far so good.

Very nice tune, I like it. Keith is not Bob Marley but he sure can handle a reggae-tune. Best reggae from the Stones-bubble remains Words Of Wonder. But this one is, as I said, very nice as well.

I wonder if Keith is aware that he uses a line he has already used 35 years ago.

this is a cover, so keith stole the line 35 years ago and is now paying the debt ;-)

#1 single in Jamaica in 1974... I would imagine Keith knew Gregory Isaacs.

"love overdue" is a cover song - the song was originally recorded in 1974 (see above). Keith lifted the line from it for "all about you".

Being told lies and wanting to believe they're true is the gist of both Words of Wonder and You Don't Have to Mean It.

It's Keith's go-to Jamaician lyrical motif.
