The Eagles without Felder is like Fleetwood Mac without Christine. They were both too big a part of both bands' best music. Felder's departure was worse, given it had more to do with who had the biggest ego and probably could've been avoided.

Good observation, but I think it's the other way around: Fleetwood Mac is just Buckingham Nicks with a good drummer without Christine. Hell, she SANG half Of Fleetwood Mac's best songs. That's huge. Felder's vocals were harmony's only AND mixed down pretty far. So his contribution was guitar, and as we all know, that's a fairly easy replacement these days.

Whoa, Felder's guitar an easy replacement? No offense but you must not know too much about the Eagles and his songwriting contributions. Unless you're trying reverse-psych to spark a debate on Felder's extraordinary works with the band...

The problem with the Eagles isn't that their songs are overplayed. The problem is that their music is completely devoid of even the slightest shred of passion. I still turn up the volume whenever JJF comes on the radio, and I've heard it probably a couple thousand times. Can't think of a single Eagles song that doesn't cause me to change the station. Ditto for Fleetwood Mac.

I completely agree. And I used to love the Eagles. But their act all seems so manufactured to me now. If the Stones are a groove band, the Eagles are the anti-groove band. On stage, they are four robots + plus Joe Walsh. Joe is only one breathing any life in their act. And you know it drives the control freaks crazy.

You guys should read Don Felder's bio. It's quite good at explaining the problems with the Eagles sound. Also, there's a great Keith incident from 1975 in there.

I hear you, but I turn it up for "In the City", as well as a few other Eagles tunes. "On the Border", "Hollywood Waltz". Lots of good stuff in there among the dead fish.
