Open G has no shame in his hatred of Ron Wood and his obsessive over the top worship of guitar god Mick Taylor and his divine mastery of VIBRATO.

He is like listening to a pentecostal preacher from the religious right of the USA; only his zealous views are correct and anyone that disagrees is a lost soul. Since they have not seen the divine light, their opinions carry no weight and they should be attacked and beaten into the proper idealogy.

I think OpenG has some good points at times..though sometimes they're very extreme.

He seems to be from the church of "Mick Taylor Extreme Evangelical Fundamentalism", but at least has has his reasons to back up his tirades against Ronnie and the rest of the bunch. I actually agree with 90% of what OpenG preaches, and I also encourage what the messages he delivers...I guess you could consider me a follower and believer of his.

Without RW there would have been no Some Girls and the changes that brought with the Stones dissapearing up their own arse like the Who/Eagles.....

Much I read here sound fairly reasonalble; but please change thread.

Backup Open G completely - it about the music!!!! and what it sounds like
currently.. and I agree with you Ablett, to a point

the Stones needed someone like Ron who helped them thru the late 70's, 80's 90's
but what's wrong with trying to re-create that FIRE - that they had in the late 60's, early 70"s!!!!!

Again what I've seen lately (HBO Special, their live CD) is very average, at best
and with the Cream re-union coming up, what better way for the Stones to get
a kick in the ASS than bringing Taylor (and maybe Wyman) back in for a Tour
or 1 night special!!!!! MLC

it's funny how in your opinion Mick Taylor get credit for the best songs that Mick and Keith alone wrote and mostly played by themselves at the end of the sixties, while Ron takes all the blame for the worst music Mick OR Keith have been writing lately

i tell you what it is not a lie - maybe just an opinion, but i think pretty strong (and that has little to do with MT or RW)
it is not a lie that Black and Blue, Some Girls and Tattoo You are better than Goat's head soup and Iorr
that MT solos on those album did not make the stones step forward by a single inch as a band
that on Sticky fingers solos on sway and Cyhmk are memorable but that album i praise for keys' sax on BS, mixture of guitars and no solo on BS, horns on bitch (more than for the solo, and whose is it?), Billy's organ solo on IGTB, ry cooder's guitar sound on SM, strings on moonlight mile and no solo, guitars mix in YGM and no solo...
The same goes pretty much for exile too where MT is good not for his magic solos, in fact there's only one vibrato solo on the album and it is the wonderful one on SAL, MT is good because Mick and Keith songs and playing is great and he just merges in (in RO, RTJ, TORR, SYH, VB etc) pretty much as RW merges in Somegirls. And Keith was in control back then as it is on SG or ER, and on EOMS you hear what keith wants you to hear about guitars, and i think it is pretty much him. period.

And i don't think we want to discuss here the "role" of saint MT on LIB, do we?

So, i think that Keith is the riff master and it is him to praise and blame for the good and the bad and not to make this funny idol of a musician that, with all my respect, has never been more than a great session man.

Well, you know what it is not a lie? that, incidentally, the clown has been member of three great bands that have respectively a massive, large and good role in the history of r'n'r. So...what are you still talking about

taylor wrote stuff on their songs and some with mick j.

The statement the music does not lie - I was referring to their live sound after
Taylor.For studio work IMO after Some Girls they did not write great records,they
wrote good songs on some of those records but IMO they were not great records.

Ronnie was the bass player on Truth AND Beck-Ola. 'Truth' was WAY ahead of it's time, released BEFORE Led Zepplin I. I still think it's one of the greatest rock records from that period. For me any period. And from what I've heard MT really liked it too
