We Love You...Live...

Well, how about this one?
I saw The Knack do it many years ago, and they did it great.
Transfer the piano lick to guitar (it's not that hard to play on guitar, actually).
Get into a reve-up at the end...
It could work in a live setting. Thoughts?

I´m there, tomk; I´ve posted it before.
Fresh thinking (A will say: "It was played in Philly 1978
at the 2nd show"; and B: "I saw them doing it in Munich in 1972".
Anyway, a rare flower, innit? I also long for 2,000 Light Years...

Well , 2000 Light Years From Home were recorded live and came out in 1991 (as a singel) so it`s not so rare as We Love You , but they are both very good Stones music :-)

I want to hear Child Of The Moon...Get Off My Cloud...

...along with Turd On The Run...

and then Soul Survivor!

And Midnight Rambler should be played at the end of every single show from this point onward
as the grandest and greatest final encore of this so-called "final tour" by the Stones.

If they should do one from the acid past on stage they should do "2000 man"
"well my wife still respects me I really missuse her, cause I'm having an affair with the random computer"

Hmmm don't we all do that nowadays. Think of it that lyric were written in 1967.

LOL....well, for the record, they've never played We Love You

You can find when each song was last played (if it ever was) here ;

(a few amendments that need updating, but most of the info is correct)

Thanks, Gazza. S'pose there a whole bunch of these psychedelicish-sort-of-songs from 1966 and 1967 that never (as well as there is
(didnt care today to check at RocksOff; my wife harasses me that I´m too often & for far too long sessions at the computer) were or are or will be played.
"The Lantern" would make a fine mid-gig number I think. And "In Another Land" with Bill as casual guest.

I just got through listening to WLY, (twice in fact, just bought the singles collection/abkco), what a great song. The flip side is a little hard to take at this point. The Stones were not all that popular during the WLY period, it wasn't exactly what you would call one of their BIG hits. Maybe that's one of the reasons I like it so much, because if you were listening to that you were a REAL Stones fan. I still have my original 45 somewhere.

Child Of The Moon would be great too, although it might be kind of draggie live. Have they ever done it live?

I ain't stupid, I'm just guitarded.

Actually, this is a song where thay need Chuck. I would love to hear the song as an opener with a long piano intro!

yes, well you have to remember that they didnt tour between spring 1967 and november 1969 so there was no outlet for the psychedelic songs from the 'satanic majesties' era to have been played live, plus it would have been hard to do so with the technology at the time. Similarly, only a few from 'between the buttons' would have been played in europe in spring '67 before disappearing from the live set, presumably for good.

2000 Light years from home and Shes A Rainbow werent debuted live for over 20 years.

I understand & I also heard Ove Tingvall said they sounded rusty in 1967.

"2000 Light years from home and Shes A Rainbow werent debuted live for over 20 years."... Quite peculiar; these are two of the best Stones-songs ever written & recorded IMHO (this written before the coming album; I´d better add)...
2,000 Light Years is one of the most underrated Stones-song among fans, as I get it... Many people in the outer world (the world where most people only have heard a few songs by the Stones) do like this odd song.

I think they should come out dressed like they did in this era and do a whole set of these songs! lol

That is actually my dream Rank! Would have looked better in '67/'68 but better late than never. I was picturing a couple of nights at the Royal Festival Hall (just because that's where they seem to hold all these shows like Love doing Forever Changes & the Pretty Things doing SF Sorrow - incidentally from '68 so there is a precedent).

I would pay absurd amounts of money to hear the whole of Satanic Majesties + say Dandelion, We Love You & Child of the Moon as encores. So few people seem to rate the Stones psych period that it would have the added benefit of being easier to get tickets.

I thought I was the only person alive who wanted to hear Gomper until I saw your post Hot Stuff! I would keep the flutes though. Even if my wildly unrealistic dream were to ever transire I bet it would be soured by Beardy plinking through all Brian's magical mellotron parts.

But Charlie is kind of cute with his 1966-67-moustasche, isnt he?
Jaggers full-beard is also quite groovy!

What about this talk about WLY and Dandielion being on
the accetate pressing for TSMR?
Is this rumor ar fact?
Bands hardly ever put singles on albums in those days,
and that would add about 4 minutes to each side of the album.
About 25 minutes a side. That's a tight squeeze for vinyl
as you lose fidelity the longer a side is.
