Last week I was standing on the corner of West 80 street and 6th avenue... latebloomer, whatchoo, watchoo doing'?
I think the time has come to get up, get out...into something new.
I figured someone would pick up on my word play, treacle.
I was walking from 6th avenue, but pretty far away from 80th street.
...Always thought it was (the corner of) West 8th street ( & 6th avenue)...!?
West 80th street is not even on Manhattan - it's in Brooklyn.
(Nothing against Brooklyn - but to be fair: if "NYC" was mentioned and/or refered to during the 70's, everybody really meant Manhattan...)

Still - the songs says clearly - "standing on the corner of West 8...th(?!) street & 6th avenue", doesn't it?
And especially since there IS no corner of W80 & 6th, apparently, I still think he's saying W8...

West 80th St is most certainly in Manhattan, it just doesn't intersect with 6th Ave. Mick and Ronnie both lived on the UWS in the 70's/80's (West 78th and West 83rd St's I believe). 6th Ave stops at Central Park on 59th St. 5th Ave divides Manhattan between East & West.Quote
